Hmmmmm....... I read that as being on the grim side. -217 + -38 = -255. Fatalities in the same period were 261

Yes, for sure. These are not critical/ventilator cases recovering, but passing away. Perhaps a few very lucky people are the exception. Those recovery case(s) would make the News and its own article IMO.

I have a feeling that this range will be the highest we will see, around 20000 +- every day. I think it is like this due to this is there max capacity for testing has now been reached. So I really fear the real number of positive cases could be much higher.

They are much higher already. Today's number is 20,571 confirmed cases, but a further 7,094 from ATK.

You may be right but then again, people were saying this when the numbers were "stuck" at around 2,000 for a while. Then they said it when it rose to around 3,000 - then when it went to 4,000 etc, etc, etc.

Every time, it turned out it wasn't stuck at that number, and the capacity for testing hadn't been reached, since it went higher.

I'm quoting the below here because what I was afraid of as mentioned in the quote seems to be happening. If you look at today's Bangkok Post article at https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... ced-sunday The chart at the bottom of the article, You'll see that the Thai predictions that the Delta variant will be declining here are based upon India's numbers which are extremely suspect IMO. :banghead: Time will tell I guess, and I truly hope that I'm wrong.

PeteC wrote: Tue Aug 03, 2021 1:11 pm If you read all of the below article you'll see that Kerala State is testing approximately 1 out of 2 people, whereas the rest of India is close to 1 out of 30. Kerla State infections of the Delta variant are not going down, but going up. The rest of India reports that the numbers are going down.

This is what I'm afraid of here in Thailand. What are the true numbers and what is the percentage of the population being tested? For sure it is not 1 out of 2, and probably not as bad as 1 out of 30, but somewhere in the middle meaning that when we start to see numbers go down (hopefully) in the near future, they probably are not really going down by as much as they will report.

In the 1950's, I read a short book by an economist, entitled, How To Lie With Statistics. Nothing has changed.
