Police seize more weapon parts

* Published: 15/03/2010 at 12:00 AM
* Newspaper section: News Bangkok Post

SAMUT PRAKAN : More illegally made M79 assembly parts have been seized in Samut Prakan as part of a police follow-up to Saturday's seizure in Ayutthaya.

Police Region 1 commander Kritsada Pankongchuen said police raided the office of Siam KS Machine & Service yesterday in Bang Bo district to search for illegal weapons.

Police found 600 completed parts for M79 launchers and 5,000 more parts buried in front of the office entrance.

Supawit Kadegul, 38, was arrested and taken for questioning.

Yesterday's operation was a follow-up to a seizure of 300 M79 parts found in the office of Fuji Auto Parts in Ayutthaya on Saturday, Pol Lt Gen Kritsada said.

Police arrested Cherdyod Jeerawattanarak, 31, the company owner, and charged him with the illegal manufacture of firearms.

Police later searched two more offices in Samut Prakan's Bang Phli district, Siam Kentech Engineering and P&B Pass, and found more than 30 firearm triggers and metal moulds, as well as purchase orders for weapons.

Initial investigations indicated Mr Cherdyod was hired by Mr Supawit to make the M79 parts. Mr Supawit confessed he was hired by another man whom police identified as Jirapong Kaewwaree.

The Ayutthaya court yesterday issued an arrest warrant for Mr Jirapong.

Pol Lt Gen Kritsada said police could not tell yet if the seized M79 parts could be connected to recent M79-related attacks in Bangkok.

Nattawut Saikua, a red shirt leader, said the seizure of M79 parts in the two provinces was a set-up by the government to create public panic during the group's rally.

I am in Bangkok, and although I have not been to the Airport, the Expressway that I can see at Phrakhanong only has very light traffic, and has been so since Saturday. The red shirts have stated that they will not block the Airport, and I tend to believe that, going on how they are concentrated in the one general area.

There has not been any news at all since 1600 yesterday. Let's hope things are beginning to return to normal and people are starting to drift home. One can only hope. Pete

After reading SM67 s post I thought I had better get myself informed and educated because I have never been called a prole before everything else but never a prole  :D :D
As every TV in my soi is on the same channel I thought I had better listen in.
Now my Thai is OK for getting the main gist of what is being said but details and names are a bit of a blur. Anyway this is what I have deduced from hours of listening to the same things being said over and over again.

1... They have rejected the Russian style of government
You know the one man one vote and Putin   carries on ruling regardless

2…They have rejected the US style of government
You know the one man one vote then the Electoral College and politically motivated  Supreme Court judges  appoint the loser

3…They also seem to be against the US fall back system
You know the one man one vote a paid for media campaign and they still elect a loser   (mind you I am against that me self)

What I don’t get is this constant demand for one man one vote and the leader of the majority ruling the country

Maybe SM67 could tell us what ill informed uneducated proles told them it would be a good and fair way to run a country you would have to come from a country of stark raving monster looneys to think that would work :lach: :lach: :lach: :lach: :duck: :duck: :duck:

Probably because that also failed as the 'leader' didn't actually lead without buying those votes and a bunch of other political parties to get that 'majority'.

I believe the real majority just wants all this crap to end and to get on with their lives peacefully and prosperously.

The "Democrats" simply won't win on a vote count. It irks me to hear news items saying "Abisit's government". The Democrat party are a bunch of right-wing elitists who were never elected.
Lest we forget, the PAD were saying that some 70% of the electorate shouldn't be allowed to vote because they were poor, uneducated and politically naive. That's democracy for you.
Toxin's lot are populist, but totally corrupt.
If there was an election tomorrow, the red shirts would win, hands down.
Overall, it's probably best to regard this country as an emerging democracy - at best.

Also the non-Thaksin part of the Red-shirt movement is becoming a power in itself now.
There are many people who are angered by the way that the parties they voted for were removed from power repeatedly by what they see as an elite plot against the majority.

I'm pinching the first one Nereus and archiving it in "Thai Politics" for future reference. The second one my initial thought when this idea surfaced yesterday is "what a damn waste..." How many people are sitting in hospital waiting for blood when these idiots will be throwing it all over the street. Lets add in some HIV and hepatitis also as they begin to reuse needles at their mobile bloodletting stations. Madness. :cuss: Pete

There is a very good and pretty well balanced commentary on today's Asia Times:

It's a real mess and IMO there are no good actors in this drama. Neither side seems to have much moral legitimacy and its all prelude to the climactic next act which will happen within a very few years.

Siam Red leader says half of red shirts return home

Surachai Danwattananusorn, a leader of the Siam Red group, said Tuesday that about half of red-shirt people have returned home and the remaining protesters are expected to be defeated by their own fatigue in one or two days.

"Now, the government is leaving the protesters to lose strength, which it is approaching that point in one or two days and then everything will be over," Surachai said.

He said he was preparing to return home in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

He said the red-shirt trio leaders had failed in their strategy.
