Is the android box now working correctly or is the only option for the 365 service through your computer?

The Android Box for me works about 90% of the time. There are 2 issues for me:

- My Internet provider is 3BB. Technical Talk (that I don't understand) says that 3BB has an issue whereby they lose data packets between Bangkok and Hua Hua Hin. This results at worse in a frozen screen several times each minute. Otherwise it can result in a very jumpy screen.

- The software on the Android Box is long overdue an upgrade to something similar to the software you get on your laptop. The main problem is that it doesn't buffer. Resolution of the buffering resolves the above data packet problem. There is no forward or back button, which means e.g. if you are watching 'not live' you have to sit through irrelevant adverts. If the screen freezes as above, and doesn't restart itself, you have to watch everything again (if this happens, I plug my laptop in).

In my talks with Expat TV about the Android Box problems on 29 Jul 13, they advised:
Problem 2 - currently this is how the mobile web player works. We record all content and lay the programme guide over the recorded content. So it will always start a couple of minutes prior to the intended programme, but never part way through. This issue will be resolved with the release of our Android app which will work very similar to the software player, allowing buffering / fast forwarding & rewinding functions / genres / search etc. We hope to have the app released in the next few weeks.

Problem 3 - currently there is NO buffering with the service on the Android box, so its not possible to FFW / RWD content. Again this will be resolved with the app release shortly.
NB: Problem 1 was irrellevant to your question.

So there does appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel, but this is Thailand and timescales are variable.

On the other hand, barrys has already said on this thread that he isn't with 3BB, and doesn't suffer the buffering problems, which is my biggest problem with the Android Box.

Having said the above, I use my Android Box a lot, and as I've said 90% of the time it is acceptable - it is good, however, to have my laptop on standby.

3BB are now advertising Fiber Optic with 30 mb at a cost of 1,200BHT per month plus a 2,000BHT installation so would this much increased speed help?

I don't think so (although I'm technically out of my depth). Expat TV/365 Sport need 3Mb to operate efficiently. My 3BB package easily exceeds that.

The 3BB packet loss problem will not be an issue when the new software is delivered.

365 Sport seem to be running about 20+ minutes behind live action, well compared to Sky Sports 2 - still VERY much better than not having it.

With the new F1 season approaching, I am torn between a 365 subscription and CTH cable TV.

How has 365 been recently? I heard some pretty bad stuff -a few isolated incidents, at least- from last year on the other forum, but no recent feedback.

It is very good, especially if worked from a laptop, but Android box is good as well.

Almost anything I said bad about the service was proved to be 3BB's fault and has now been rectified.

I watch it on my PC (with a 32" tv as a monitor) - excellent picture and great value IMO. There are now 6 channels. Haven't had any problems at all.
