Just kinda bumping this to the top again.
seriously, I've been there several times and so far never had a bad meal.
I've done the taco's hard and soft. and all types of the Burritos.
Fred's doing an excellent job.
The only problem so far has been finding a place to sit some times.
well there's always take away.
BTW he's closed on Mondays.

Fred,
Nice try on the spin. To try to confuse The California Cantina- Restaurant and your place is a hard stretch. You are a “Take Away” and we are sit down with a full menu of BBQ, Steaks, and Mexican. Very very doubtful there was any confusion by the person who lodged the complaint. In addition, we also do not put beans in a Chicken Enchilada and we only serve have Pinto Beans ( no red) , which we also use in our Texas Style Chili. Again nice try on the spin. Are you running for elected office-lol?
Thanks to all the Hua Hin foks who have continued to support us.
You are so appreciated.

As for having beans in enchilada's, we do not serve enchilada's so the person might be mistaken as to which restaurant. The other mexican place is named California Cantina, I hope there is not a Baja cantina in town for i would not have chosen that name.
So far I have not asked anyone not to come back, and hope not to.
We would like to let you have your food the way you like it, so its set up that you tell us what you want in or on your food.
Hope you will try our food .[/quote]

HI there Fiestafred!!!
Very very nice to that you are now open on Lunchtimes now! When I'm in Hua Hin always around Lunchtime. Now I'm still abroad but will be back in Thailand by early July or August. Can't wait to get back to LOS again. I'm not even an expat still feeling quite uneasy @ the place I once call Home.
Your's the understudy!!!

My view oF freds is that you get to make your own. You decide on the composition
The flavours are there and not mushy and over spiced and Fred is always there to advise and correct if you screw up
Great place
If no seating grab a takeaway and cross the road and get an Indian curry or/and masaman from the oversize Thai vendor and go home for a Mex/Indian mix
For a steak I use Sara J's or YOBT (I like em blue)
For ribs I always use YOBT
For Mex I always use Freds place
Yummy

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

No Baa Baa, they went down and stayed down.
On the issue of beans, tho, I didn't have any.....
Speaking of.......We also went to Dave's Cantina a few weeks ago and I had a couple of very delicious chicken enchiladas, although I was surprised the beans were not of a Mexican variety......Dave wasn't around so maybe the cook had to substitute or something. (and No, Hellboy, they weren't IN the enchiladas)
Anyway, beans not withstanding, I will be back to Dave's Cantina as well, being a California boy..........I sure do miss my Mexican food!!

Baja Taco.....yummy.
Thanks to all that have recommended Baja Taco.
As a Texan, I really miss some good ‘ol Mexican/Tex-Mex chow.
Some friends and I had been to another Mexican Restaurant here in town that was decent, but I could not get over the burritos and enchiladas being stuffed with mostly rice and beans.
So, I did a search and came across the postings here.
Took my girlfriend, a friend and his girlfriend to Baja Taco last night.
We had soft and hard tacos with Pork, ground beef, steak and all the toppings, and they were excellent. After we finished, we ordered two more to take to two friends, along with a menu, and my girlfriend ordered another one to eat the next day.
Ah, the menu….nice and simple, just the way I like it, won’t take you 20 minutes to read thru 150 dishes to decide what you want. It’s soft or hard tacos, burritos, or burgers.
The service was very friendly, paid good attention to us and always had a smile.
We also met Fred and as others have written, he is a nice guy and encouraged feedback….good or bad.
I noticed cilantro on the menu, and recalled needing some cilantro at the house when I was making some homemade salsa, but could not find any around town.
So, Fred walked us down the street, showed us where we could buy it, and told my TGF the Thai name (because I can’t remember anything in Thai).
Our friends that we took the taco’s to also said they were very good, and they will check out the restaurant in person, and they put the menu on display in their bar.
Prices: In total we had 8 soft tacos & 3 hard tacos with all the toppings, 4 ice teas, and 2 cokes for around 900 Baht.
6 people were very pleased, and yes, we will be back!
