Hey, you're on the wrong thread for the caption competition :D

Hope Ramseys injury isnt as bad as it looks...
I thought Chelsea v City was very entertaining, particularily the second half.
Bellamy,on his day,can be devastating but he's had so many clubs in such a short period of time.
A bit harsh to send Belletti off,I thought, but once again Ballack showed what a nasty piece of work he is.
Terry seems in bits,at the moment and Hilario was.....hilarious !
Arsenal maybe back in the title race now ? I dont give much for Burnleys chances of survival.
Dont forget the Carling Cup Final (Villa v United) on Thai TV at 10pm tonight...I know you will all be rooting for SAF's men !! :guns: 8)

I disagree! The referee has actually no choice but to send him off if he is following the rules. I have been a referee myself and the rule is quite clear on this.

I agree, its the rule that is harsh and takes away any discretion by the referee. A bad day for the Blues yesterday.

As for the tackle on Ramsey, IMHO it was brutal - very late and dangerous, as self-evidenced. Not sure how he got a call up to England afterwards as he now gets an automatic 3-match ban which will probably be extended.

I honestly don't think either was a sending off. Image

I hope Ramsey has a quick recovery as he's going to be a proper player.

Bellamys after match interview is brilliant.

Good luck Villa!

Ah yes, Mr. Bellamy:

Sir Bobby Robson wrote that he was "a great player wrapped round an unusual and volatile character."

In March 2004, he threw a chair at then first-team coach John Carver after a public falling out between the two.

With his Newcastle United career hanging in the balance, he later admitted that he had threatened to fake injury ahead of the Arsenal match

Bellamy made himself further unwelcome at St James' Park when some abusive text messages were allegedly sent from his phone to club captain Alan Shearer after Newcastle's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United in April 2005.

In February 2007 it was alleged that Bellamy attacked team mate John Arne Riise with a golf club during a team training session in Portugal. Both players were fined two weeks wages by the club. The incident earned him the nickname "The Nutter with the Putter".

Shearer on Bellamy:

"Has no one learned their lesson about signing him?" Shearer said. "If only Rafa Benitez had rung me, I would've told him exactly what he was like.

"I hope there isn't anything in it. It would be interesting, especially with Terry McDermott still here because there was a scuffle at Anfield when Craig and Terry were coming down the tunnel."

Shearer admitted the mere prospect of Bellamy's return at his hometown club was enough to have him drowning his sorrows.

"I was having a few days away in France with Gary Speed and Steve Harper and the wives and I picked up a newspaper. I was having a fantastic day.

"But when I read Bellamy for Newcastle, I thought I would have to have another drink, so I had several."

Many people know that Bellamy has had a series of run-ins with players, managers and fans; that he threw a chair at a coach and went at John Arne Riise with a golf club; and that he has had his moments in nightclubs. He has, not surprisingly, been described in print as "a truculent oaf", a view clearly held by many vociferous supporters when Bellamy is playing against their team.

And yes I know he a foundation in Africa!

I suppose he should look to people like John Terry to see how a footballer should behave. Image

it's the rule alright but it needs changing :|

belletti's was harsh & the rule states that if you deny a goalscoring opportunity, it's a red card.
well it resulted in man city having a penalty, a pretty good goalscoring opportunity in my book :? :D
so any logic for that explanation is straight out of the window :? :(

the fairest & easiest solution is, pro foul outside the box, straight red.
inside the box, penalty & yellow card! simples! :D

now :? the micky mouse final today, was the letter of the law applied for vidic?
obvious red card, did he get one ? no! :? & he didn't even get a yellow

is it any wonder refs come in for so much flak when they are so inconsistant :( :|

Sir Bobby Robson also said that Bellamy was the only person he knew who could start an argument with himself !

I think if it hadnt have been the first 5 minutes of a Cup Final then Vidic may well have been sent off but, equally so,so should Collins who a few minutes later,as the last defender, chopped down Owen.
So,luckily for the ref, things evened out and the game survived as an entertaining spectacle.
United deserved their victory, also hitting the post twice and Villa did run out of steam and ideas in the second half.....man of the match, for me,was Valencia.

whehter it's the first or last minute, the rules are the rules :|
the fact that he didn't even get booked is even more shocking

owen was heading for the corner flag  hardly a goalscoring opportunity :?
