Wonderful a truck will do 300 miles for how long until the battery stats deteriorating and what is the cost of replacing batteries.
We regularly drive for long trips up to 400 miles in on day. They cannot do that. How far can they tow a caravan or trailer. Seems like a con trick to me.

The current range of full electric cars have some form of limitation when compared to a car with an ICE (emissions excepted), but if you compare what’s available now with what was available 5 years ago, the future looks exciting, especially with the “promise” of solid state battery technology by 2025.

Yes, electric vehicles are advancing by leaps and bounds whilst IC vehicles have hardly changed in 30 years or more.

That's daft! I remember my first desktop PC with internet 25 years ago. It cost me umpteen times what I paid for my all-in-one PC with bells & whistles last year, and there's no comparison between the two in terms of performance.

I have no doubt that in 25 years we'll all be driving electric cars.

Thts not daft at this moment it is correct. Also batteries to deteriorate ok I do not know how long they last . Time will tell. They also have to increase the mileage that the battery will produce and the charging rate. You may be driving one in 25 years. Be very lucky if I can. :(

I’m sure the vast majority of us will be driving electric cars in a lot less than 25 years time - more like 10.

Personally I’m looking forward to the introduction of solid state battery technology so that car ranges can be extended at the same time as recharging times reduce

I agree - still a lot of work and time required on infrastructure also (charging points et. al.). I also still believe there will be optional green (or greener) fuel sources available for combustion engines.

Learning from the past. Electric trucks. Not battery powered though - trolley trucks.

Seems crazy to me and highly impractical for mass transportation purposes.

In Seattle, Washington, they still have trolleys and in the recent heat wave, the cables melted and they no longer run.

In the 40's, until the early 60's, Los Angeles had trolleys and the local buses linked up to the trolley stations. Most of the big cities had them. They were a cheap form of transportation and well used until the spike in automobiles. All the tracks were torn up to make way for the cars.
Just like in Bangkok, where the canals were filled in to make roads for the cars.

We're all in such a rush to get somewhere that we want faster and faster means of doing so.

I can understand trolley buses - we had them in the UK where I lived as a child, but they ran from fixed point to point. Moving freight in lorries to 1000’s of different locations just doesn’t seem logical to me!!

They are testing them on a motorways, it will be interesting seeing overtaking manoeuvres avoiding breakdowns, breaking down and how far they can go when leaving the motorways. Multidrops will be fascinating. connecting and disconecting, delays, very high wins cause problems. be lucky if that works, another daft idea.

Logic? We don't need no stinking logic.
Maybe the Englishers have so much money they don't know what to do with it?
