Has anyone read that it is a certainty that once you have had Covid-19 and recovered, you can't catch it again? I haven't.

Hmmm, something to keep an eye on until it's resolved one way or the other.

These findings suggest that at least a proportion of recovered patients still may be virus carriers,
https://www.livescience.com/coronavirus ... overy.htmlVirus that persists in the body may elicit enough of an immune response to provide some protection against new infection, Johnson said. There are many questions about how long immunity would last, though, Tumban said. For example, the body maintains immunity against the coronaviruses that cause the common cold for only a year or two, he said. And there is always the possibility that the new coronavirus would mutate as it moves through populations, changing into a version that already-exposed immune systems can't recognize.

Looking at the recent stats, WuFlu is taking a real hold in the west despite earlier assurances that it was under control. Italy, France, Germany and Spain appear to be the worst with massive jumps over the last day.
Even the US, despite certain press conferences, now have 149 cases with 11 deaths.
The UK stands at 87 cases with only 8 recovered. Fortunately, no deaths so far.
How come Thailand, with probably the least restrictions, still have only 12 active cases? 1 death and 30 recovered and discharged. Something doesn't add up!

....... except climate. I think that is a really big factor with this disease. Hopefully the higher the ambient temps rise, the less virulent it becomes. Fingers crossed.

Singapore just reported 2 more cases bringing their total to 112. There is evidence of community infections there.
But I agree that weather may be a factor. We can hope.
Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
Toilet paper seems to be something people are stock-piling in the UK, based on the state of the empty shelves at Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, plus you can’t get hand gel for love nor money. The thing I couldn’t fathom out was a total outage of strong bread flour, white OR wholemeal, used in home baking. I did wonder whether my current existence in the leafy shires was epitomised by the middle classes prepping for doomsday by getting ready for a mass bake-off with only their finest split loaves to save them.
Apparently it’s related instead to a world shortage of spelt wheat caused by two poor harvests these past couple of years and a subsequent astronomical price rise. Thank heavens, for a moment I thought we’d have to survive on our last few cases of caviar and oysters before armageddon came to claim our souls. Phew!

The toilet paper phenomenon is not not confined to the UK but rather a global issue. Supermarkets in Australia have imposed limits because of the issue.
Unlike floods in Outback oz some 8 years ago when we were isolated for about a month the only things left in the local supermarket were toilet paper and dog food!

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
I think you're right. From what I see on UK news reports, the plan seems to be to contain and delay the spread of covid-19 until warmer weather arrives. After that I'm sure that have a plan for when the Summer's over and cold weather sets in again.PeteC wrote:....... except climate. I think that is a really big factor with this disease.
