That's how I see it, there is absolutely no need to panic or rush into this - unless of course, you want to leave the country without a world of hassle (which will probably still apply on return, vaccine or not). I've resigned to being stuck here for at least another year and avoiding crowds while Thailand catches up with the rest of the world.

I guess you're stuck with Thailand's bullshit - not a good situation to be in.

I think you may be reading more into it than exists BB - the basic problem is being able to deliver jabs, irrespective of where they originate.

Getting a vaccine in Thailand ...

What I'm reading is that Thailand's saviour, AZ will only producing 50% of what it should. Coincidentally, the shortfall can be made up by using the Sinovac. Hey presto, Sinovac is suddenly safe for wrinklies. Yes, of course, I may be reading more into it than there might be, but the timing, etc is brilliant/very fortunate.

The June target for AZ production was 6 million doses rising to 10 million from July onwards, so even at 50% it should be between 3-5 million which will be as much as, or more than Sinovac, so no real advantage!!

You seem to be missing the point. Until yesterday, Sinovac was not considered suitable for wrinklies. Thailand has been making big that phase 1 of vaccination (wrinklies) will be in June/July. AZ now say they can't deliver enough for phase 1, so the unsuitable vaccine is suddenly stated as being safe on exactly the same day AZ say they can't deliver. To me, that is one hell of a 'lucky' coincidence.

From what I heard today from a reliable source, I think those who are most eager to be vaccinated as soon as possible by foreigners, should meet in person at some of the districts hospitals, as the source mentioned that funds are now in place at most private hospitals and they want as soon as possible an overview of those who want to be vaccinated. The vaccine mentioned was for information not those that most people seems skeptical of.

I think that private hospital vaccination could go a long way in Thailand, my partner has been very resistant to the idea of any government vaccine but when I told her that private hospitals were trying to access Western vaccines, she agreed that she would accept that.

Thai FDA grants emergency use approval for Moderna COVID-19 vaccine .

The vaccine is the fourth coronavirus vaccine approved so far in Thailand. Its use is valid for one year from May 13, Paisan Dankhu, the Secretary-General of the Food and Drug Administration said.

One wonders if, when the private hospitals get their supply of vaccines, will they offer a first dose as part of an ASQ package at the end of the stay after two negative tests. Obviously for those who have not had the vaccine and want it.
I could envisage this happening but can also see a few problems it would create.
