Whilst this may be true, if they’re going to produce electric vehicles, it’s better that the ones they do produce are able to travel further thus eliminating one of the concerns you have mentioned many times - range!lindosfan1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 7:34 pmThe more gelectric cars are made, the effect of the lithium processing and mining on global warming will be horrendous.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 2:56 pm For all the EV doubters, Volvo appear to be confident of introducing new battery technology within the next few years that will significantly improve current lithium-ion battery performance and reduce costs!!

For the rest of us there will be Chinese EV's. Under the bonnet will be a cage with bats flapping their wings to create electricity.sateeb wrote: ↑Mon Aug 09, 2021 6:39 pmSaw one today stopped at the top of Soi 88. If you got too much money, and want. Wouldn't by my choice, but, nice looking ride and performs quite well.

Edit: Ah, get to it through your qr code pic. Just scrolled through the first page, some cracking shots there indeed!

Hadn't realised the QR Code meant anything - would have liked to see the pics, but couldn't get beyond the bloody "Cookie BS" on the site....
Anywho, with regards to EV's, I'm going to have a drive of the Kia EV6 - will be interesting, but not for me. I'm also going to look at the new Hyundai Tucson EV. Petrol and Diesels are going to be shafted with tax and insurance in the coming years, and I need to make a choice. I'm thinking an EV in the next say 5 years where I think better technology, range, price will be there, but I want to have a better look-see. At the moment I'm going to look more at the Hybrids - the LHG needs a change of car, and the new Vauxhall Mokka looks well worth a look (also offering full EV option)....

Thanks
As for the 'cookies', it's FLICKR, so if use Google, Yahoo, FB, YouTube, they already have all your info. Didn't realize, though not surprise, has a cookie notification, as think all do now. At least FLICKR isn't full of adds. Surely there was an easy option to 'deny all', as I see that a lot now. If not, then usually an unsubscribe link in any unsolicited emails, Flickr would send out.
Back to EVs ... yea, they are silly priced, but, considering the lack of any major or even minor maintenance cost, if all electric, then they may actually pay for themselves. If family sedan, costing extra ฿500k. Thailand doesn't have a network of charging station, and not sure hotel would be so accommodation, as surely ignorance (my own included) would be an issue. Don't think they'd appreciate you running an extension cord from your bungalow, out to your car ...

But hey, if you got more money than needed, though for 12+ mill, I think I'd buy a boat, dock it on Phuket and live on it.
Re: Electric Cars
After seeing the EV Beemer yesterday, today I saw my first Tesla on the canal road. Not sure of the model but very uninspiring looks as opposed to the Beemer.

Re: Electric Cars
If you’re looking at EV’s, most of the motoring pundits recommend the Skoda Enyaq as the best (in its peer group) mid-size Sedan/SUV. If I was in the UK looking for an electric car less than £40k, (they have models that sit below the £35k limit for a grant), I’d certainly have one of those on my test list!!pharvey wrote:Hadn't realised the QR Code meant anything - would have liked to see the pics, but couldn't get beyond the bloody "Cookie BS" on the site....

However, if you can wait for maybe 5 years, hopefully the promised solid state battery cars might be available?
If you can wait 10+ years, you might have the option of a hydrogen powered car, because despite their environmental virtues, they are lagging way behind EV car development. Maybe the forthcoming climate meeting in November will provide greater stimulus, but don’t bet on it.

Re: Electric Cars
Electric cars won't be mass produced for the average consumer until the world runs out of oil. And that's not happening anytime soon.
Oil & combustion engines are simply too much of a profit maker. Simple regular, constant maintaining (cost / profit) of a combustion engine vs electric, is too much to ignore, and even consider actually mass producing EVs. Huge % of the auto industry's bottom line.
Watch "Who killed the electric car?" and it pretty much answers any question why and who controls that market. It used to be on youtube, but blocked in many countries. Can still find parts of it on there.
Ignorance is a beautiful thing for the bottom line. Oil companies even bought up the battery companies and shelved them. It's a must watch if you can find it. Available on P-bay (torrent), if inclined to watch

Although in that article it also adds “ Sales of second- hand battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles more than tripled in the second quarter.”lindosfan1 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 3:53 pm Interesting article,i the UK secondhand petrol car sales rising. I know you’re very much against EV’s but the fact of the matter is that they’re coming whether you or I like it or not!!
I’m not knocking your desire to see (a lot) more hydrogen fueled cars, but unless and until there’s a given incentive, it’s not going to happen.
