Still, we have to look on the bright side - at least the season is not over for us yet
Chelsea 3-0. Easy-peasy, or should have been if Evertons record breaking early goal had been disallowed for off-side as it should have been and Malouda's shot that clearly crossed the line, had been awarded. No moans about the lino on that, he couldn't possibly ever have been in a position to adjudicate, it really needs that camera/tennis thingy.
Caller, here was me thinking that the victory had gone unoticed. Great game I thought, one of the better finals I have seen for a while.
The early Everton goal was what was needed to open up the game.
Shame Everton sat back a bit after they scored and let us back into the game.
When they did that there was only going to be one result and that was a win to us. We played the ball around well and kept position (not allowing them to play).
Even in midfield with Essien not operating at full potential (and perhaps a bit lucky to get away with his early tackle), we still dominated the midfield and scored two great goals. (Three is you count goal of the year not allowed for Malouda)
Must say am pleased for Malouda, as he is now showing what a good player he is, and even though it pains me to say even Ashley Cole had one of his best games in a Chelsea shirt for a long time.
All in all a very professional performance and a fitting send of for Guus. I will pity the manager who has to fill his shoes. It will be a lot bigger job that filling the special one's, as not only has he got the team performing well, he has commanded so much respect in such a short space of time from all concerned in the game in the UK.
Will be still interesting to see if he actually goes. I suspect he will keep his word, but really hope he does not.

chelsea,
I don't normally contribute to the football threads, but:
The early Everton goal opened the game up? After 23 seconds? It must have been a close call for the first 22 seconds with a huge midfield battle.
Only joking a bit. I watched some of the game and it was pretty entertaining. The better side won.
he`d better win his first 3 matches or he will be on his way with a big fat pay off.
That seems to be the trend these days - pick up a 3 year contract, get sacked after a few matches followed by gardening leave for rest of the duration. The likes of Ian Holloway have been doing it for years.
