3) H&G are not total villains in that the club has had much greater commercial success and revenues since they've been there. Pete
I think that's thanks to Ian Ayres, his deal with Standard Chartered is the biggest in football, £20'000'000 a season.
H&G are still the villains if that profit is taken to pay off the loan debts on their leveraged buyout instead of strengthening the playing staff.
There's been no investment in players for 3 years.
Liverpool is one of the top 5 profitable clubs in the world, the equivalent of Real, United and Milan, since they took over we are spending less than Stoke and Sunderland.
If something happens and the club does go to the bank, and the PL deducts 9 points, it's going to be interesting to see what the eventual new owners do. They didn't buy to have a second tier club.
I'm not familiar with the transfer and player purchasing rules. Are they relaxed in the event of the above 9 point deduction so that a club can go on a buying spree to try to avoid relegation? Pete

No, you can only buy in the transfer windows.
Liverpool wouldn't have been deducted 9 points anyway, the club itself is solvent, it's Kop Holdings (the parent company created by H&G) that will go bankrupt.
I'll just be happy if Liverpool can spend their own money instead of paying off the owners debts.
Liverpool should have a transfer kitty of around £40 mill every season off their own backs.
A little boost off the new owners in January would be nice though!
I have a feeling that besides new players, they won't have much patience with the current manager. If the deal goes through he may last the season, but I doubt much longer than that. Pete

I hope not, this would be just the incentive you lot need to beat us. Just hope it drags through another couple of weeks.
Everton 2 (Cahill, Arteta) - 1 Liverpool (Kuyt)
The only things I regret are the things I didn't do

With all the ifs and buts I can't see it happening. The Premier League would probably make up a new rule, their "Franchise" would take a massive financial hit, Liverpool has to be the biggest supported club in Asia.
To be honest I'd take the 9 point penalty to get the cancers out of the club and I'd still be confident of being midtable with a 9 point deduction. We're shit, but we aren't that shit!
