Maybe they do, but that is not what they say. They are also displayed in both directions, one after the turning that you refer to TIT - just do what the locals do

Locals don`t read signs, Thai or English, road or other!
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
With all the speed humps (which are ridiculous and far too high), signage, flashing lights, bright tube lights and other bikes and cars going through like the clappers I was far too busy keeping us on the bike to watch for trains!
There is a point at which you can over do things in a non logical manner that can make the issue worse than it was before.
I hope the barriers come soon but until then, I'll take my chances crossing at soi 88 or soi 102 instead. Better 5 minutes late eh....
I agree with you Billy Joe..before the line heading West you've got speed-bumps, rumble-stips, potholes, a crossroads, plus umpteen signs to either read, or try see past for prior signs of line-activity, couple that with cars & bikes with drivers/riders eating/on their phones.. so do not think about using their indicators (OK..do they ever?). At the point of crossing the line your thoughts may then be aimed at the next X-Rds straight after the line..WHOOOOSSSSHHH..F**k!..was that a train..???
The 'no car' signs are for the newly tarmaced road joining up with soi 88. It's one way for cars so the signs actually say something like 'cars not drive right' and the other way 'cars not drive left'. The sign on the actual soi also has strange english 'Cars not to drive straight away'.
With all the english speaking farangs here, you would think someone would just ask before having signs made!! Then it might have been 'No left turn', 'No right turn' and 'No entry' (for cars of course).
Please don't take this question the wrong way HHTel, but how did/do you know that? It was my assumption too (even though I posted about it), but why put the signs there in the first instance?
Surely, depending on what way you are travelling, the correct sign should be No Right Turn or No Left Turn. I know some signs are different here in Thailand, but I have seen No Right Turn and No Left Turn signs.

I thought that was what I was saying BB so agree with you. A cop told me also that it was one way for cars so what you're saying and what I'm saying is correct isn't it?

TIT
Sirada - The Learning Centre has offered free translation of signs to the Tessaban several times but did not even receive a reply.
