Stickman had a story some time back of an American happily married to a Thai lady for years. She died and he went back to the US to se his kids for a visit.
Upon his return he found his inlaws had ripped off his TV, appliances and pretty well anything of value from his house.
Inlaws told him to get lost, its our land.
So he went into the house to gather up a few things, spread some fluid around and walked out to his truck, tossing a match through the window.
Burned the place down and left the inlaws gobsmacked.
They could do nothing, it was his house and no insurance fraud committed.
Inlaws had their sister's land free and clear and a pile of smoking rubble to live in.

Good luck to you anothermug, you bared your heart here and that takes guts.

This is such a very sad, yet interesting thread to follow. It really makes me wonder: is there such a thing as a true, sincere relationship - based on LOVE - between a Thai and a farang? And I ask this question as a person being newly married to, and very happy with my Thai lady. And yet, when I look into her eyes, it's very much like looking into "cat eyes". I doubt I'll ever really know what she's thinking, deep down. It's a roll of the dice. And I think that even ten years from now, those dice might still be rollin'.

Good question! Easy to burn your fingers on this one because IF (mind the IF) you say that in general there is no such thing as a relationship based on true love between a farang and a Thai and it is only a complicated way to exchange sexual favours for financial compensation on a structural basis. Ergo you have ST, LT and Extra Large LT (often confused with "a relationship"). IF you would say THAT you would be bombarded with replies of the kind "but look at me" and "mine is different".

Therefore I advise you to adjust to life in Thailand and to forget about the whole "does she really love me?" -thing. Just ask yourself if you are happy with how things are going and as long as the answer is yes you are fine.

Well said, Roel! Yes, of course, I think all of us who are in what we consider to be "strong" relationships with Thais would say, "I'm happy with the way things are going." I certainly feel that way. And I'm pretty sure Anothermug felt that way too...once upon a time.

Thanks Norseman. Another question (to the Mods): Why is this thread under Property and Real Estate?

Yeah it has kind of gone off the property theme so will move it to the appropriate section.

My girlfriend (Thai) sais that you should knock the house down. That way you will have no problem with the police, as in the case of starting a fire - even I feel better for you now. PET

What did I say earlier?

Bulldozer job. Who will rent or buy a pile of rubble?

Happens all the time :)

Make sure there is noone in there though :)

AM
The smile MUST be wiped off her face. If you are able legally to destroy this house (and it appears you are) then this will send a message to others who may be thinking of doing the same to their falang husband.
I would be very happy to contribute to a fund to have this done. I would also make sure that I am there when it is being done just to see her face when she returned to the house (rubble).
I know we are all different however I could not just walk away. Although the whole exercise has cost you money and a piece of your heart, revenge would allow you to break out into a chuckle every now and then when you think about it in the future.

Or then again she may then have reason to add to the farang casualty statistics if she knows where he lives, and have his place bulldozed while he is still inside. Revenge may seem sweet but it may end up being sour on the inside. Far better to divorce and let it go in my eyes. You have already warned others, and the only thing you need to do now is set up a website naming and shaming her; in fact ,you could offer to tell anyone who she is and where the house is to anyone who PMs you, just to make sure no one else is caught out by her.

I went to the Land Registry Office in Hua Hin on Friday to try and stop here selling the property, but when I got there I found that she had leased the land to an Irish guy for 30 years. She has today advised me that she has actually sold the house and did so in mid October the day after she forced me out, adding that I only married her so I could steal HER house.

I knew of late she was devious but I she has stolen everything I have, and I not sure what, if anything, I can do about it.
It`s a bit late to be knocking the house down--some other unsuspecting soul has put his future into it.
