There's some kind of front coming, or pressure/wind change in the works. My side of the gulf here is predicting substantial rain for the next 5 days. For Hua Hin it indicates 70% today and tonight, 40% Saturday and Sunday, and 50% Tuesday. Pete

Exactly, quite mild in Northern England tonight but I love a torrential downpour in Thailand, I actually get the beers in, sit outside and watch the damage.

You and me both. I'm a violent weather freak. The power of nature never ceases to amaze me. The best is being at the shore, especially northern California, Oregon or Washington when a big storm is rolling in. :D Pete

Well, there are some dark clouds forming so with a bit of luck we'll get some rain. For the last few weeks we've only been getting dust, dust, and more dust. And, after nearly three months, still not a single drop of municipal water. :(

Well, I never knew that the rainy season had a definite starting date, but I guess anything is possible in Thailand:

Heat to ease next week

The hot weather will cool down a bit when the rainy season arrives next week, according to the Meteorological Department.

Department deputy director-general Somchai Baimuang said on Friday that a southwesterly wind prevailing over the Andaman Sea will bring more rain across the country, including Bangkok.

There will still be summer storms today and tomorrow, but the rainy season will start on May 9, Mr Somchai said.
By mid-May, the country can expect thunderstorms and the heat will begin to ease, he added. 8)

Their guns are loaded and they're taking no prisoners. If they miss the call concerning floods this year Phua Thai can pack up and move to Dubai. For sure we're going to get many loose cannon announcements and predictions so they can cover their arse in the press..... "I told you so..." Pete

Warning: Heavy rain, floods

Published: 5/05/2012 at 01:44 PM
Online news: Bangkok Post

The Meteorological Department on Saturday morning issued a warning for people in the North, the central Plains, the East and western part of the South to prepare for widespread scattered rain with heavy falls in some areas and the danger of floods from today to May 9.

All shipping in the upper part of the Gulf of Thailand should proceed with caution today and the next few days, the department said.

Well it has rained the last two days, not heavy, but that is good after a long dry spell as more likely to absorb.
We need at least as much again.
