Thai student discovers a clever solution for killing cockroaches

Image

ISAAN:-- Jenjira Ponyong, a Prathom 6 student from Pracha-anukro Primary School, Kalasin province has invented a unique solution for killing cockroaches.

The student created the solution by experimenting with 3 basic ingredients: cement powder, rice flour and Ovaltine powder.

Once the solution is mixed it is put in a place where the cockroaches usually roam together alongside a tray of water.

Janjira summarized the thought process behind creating the solution:

1. Ovaltine powder attracts the cockroaches.

2. The rice flour causes the cockroaches to be thirsty.

3. Once the cement powder mixed with water it will become hardened and caused death to cockroaches.

Comparing to general pesticide, her solution does not use any chemical which will contaminate the environment or affect people.

A big thumbs up for the student for creating kryptonite for cockroaches!

What I would be afraid of is that they would end up cooked on a sidewalk cart in Bangkok with all that cement inside!

Missing US parrot ditches English to switch to Spanish

Four years after disappearing, a pet parrot has returned home in Torrance, California, having ditched his British accent and switched to Spanish.

Nigel, an African Grey parrot, was reunited with his owner, Darren Chick, last week, the Daily Breeze reported.

It is not clear what happened to Nigel during his absence, although he now frequently calls for someone called Larry, the newspapers report said.

The bird is said to be well though it did bite Mr Chick upon their reunion.

Advert of woman’s breasts posted on side of van causes 500 car crashes in just 24 hours

An advertisement showing a woman’s bare breasts has reportedly caused more than 500 accidents in one day in a poorly-thought out PR campaign.
The photograph showing a woman cupping her breasts with a thin blue strip across the nipples was posted on the side of 30 vans in Moscow, Russia. The advert simply read: ‘They attract’. But as the vans drove around streets in the city, cars started colliding with one another in their wake. It is thought 517 accidents happened in total.
Ildar Yuriev, 35, was one of the motorists affected. He said: ‘I was on my way to a business meeting when I saw this truck with a huge photo of breasts on its side go by. Then I was hit by the car behind who said he had been distracted by the truck. ‘It made me late and left my car in the garage and although I am insured I am still out of pocket.’
Sarafan Advertising Agency, the company that organised the sign, said it would pay compensation to all those who crashed.

A spokesman said: ‘We are planning to bring a new advertising format onto the market, encouraging companies to place their ads on the sides of trucks, as we thought this would be a good alternative to putting them on the sides of public transport.‘We wanted to draw attention to this new format with this campaign.'
‘In all cases of accidents, the car owners will receive compensation costs from us that aren’t covered by their insurance.’ Not really an apology though is it?

No, just needs a bit more air in the tyres.

Thanks for the photo Pete. My initial reaction was, "What's all the fuss about?" Then I realised how long I'd been studying the photo
