10 more deaths in the UK today, Saturday, bringing the total to 21.
Jet2 plane turned back in mid flight. It was on it's way to Spain when the company cancelled all flights to Spain.

The UK, US and others have been added to Thailand's list of 'countries with ongoing transmission' and anyone from countries on this list has to 'self-monitor' for 14 days. Anyone refusing face a 100,000 baht fine and a year in jail.
My daughter arrives in around 6 weeks or so for a 2 week holiday. By then it'll have probably been upgraded to 'self-quarantining'. So far, Thailand have not banned people from 'risk countries' but placed restrictions on them.
My daughter was quick to point out that unless the country specifically bans arrivals or airlines cancel their flights, then insurance will not cover any costs.
It would be quite ridiculous to come for a 2 week holiday to spend the entire time in quarantine! Then when returning to the UK, possibly having to spend a further 14 days in quarantine.
It's getting crazy!

I don't know how true this photo is, there's no way I can check it. However, if true, there'll be so many who can't afford to have the check-up and the real numbers will not be even near the official ones. Does anybody know if the not so wealthy Thais have a chance for a free check-up?

Going to get far worse. My company simply won't allow me to travel.

Looking at this one more closely, Russia is a big question mark in comparison to other cold weather, high population countries?

I'm going to bump this link each week as at present it's the best summary chart we have.

Apologies if repeating....
Any word on Thai Government closing the bars and if so how long? I guess it would be indefinitely
And where? Everywhere or just major population centres?
Thanks

It's set to be discussed in committee tomorrow so I would say a few days before we know anything firm.

Closing bars!! They can't even close borders, not even with China!
Even Cambodia and Vietnam have banned travelers from certain countries.
Thailand, apart from 'restrictions' there are no bans.

Haha you say that like it wouldn't make 'sense' to close bars and not borders, but perhaps you temporarily forgot this is Thailand we're talking about!

This is a big one.

...and I imagine other countries will think about doing the same.
Coronavirus: Isolation for over-70s 'within weeks'
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-51895873
Action to isolate the UK's over-70s for an extended period to shield them from coronavirus is planned in the coming weeks, Health Secretary Matt Hancock has confirmed.
He told Sky News the measure "is a very big ask of the elderly and vulnerable, but it is for their own protection".
The government has faced pressure to do more to tackle the epidemic after the UK death toll rose to 21 on Saturday.
All deaths so far have been of people over 60 or with underlying conditions.
The self-isolation measure would mean people being asked to remain at home without visitors and with vital supplies dropped off for them on their doorsteps.

These are the prices these hospitals are charging for tests of individuals who are asymptomatic and /or have no reason to believe they may have the virus, e.g. haven't just come from a high risk area, haven't been in contact with a proven case, etc. Universal coverage covers those citizens with symptoms or have been told to get tested.

Sorry stretch, but you're a tw@t. My mother being over 70 is "self isolating" purely because myself and family have begged her to do so - simply for her own health. The government are simply
recommending the same.
