No idea why but the man sitting on the grass, far right, seems familiar. Although, the one standing center resembles a young prior King or Prince? Pete

I tink that may be Harry Houdini, and his "famous" flight in Australia in his Voisin aircraft in 1910.kalbow wrote:...while we're pondering the location of some dank soi in Londres, what's this picture all about - the occassion and who's the famous dude in it?

Re: History Challenge
Beat me to it Nerus....the chap in the white shirt second row standing 4th from right looks to be Harry Houdini.
Houdini was the first man to fly a plane in Australia....well officially any way. The actual first flight was unobserved so didnt count.
The program about him on History Channel last week was fascinating.
What is even more fascinating (and amazing) is how in 100 years we have gone from a box kite with a small bike engine to the B2 Spirit.

1) Name our three bunches of loon wearing tree huggers
2) What date and location links all three
3) When 1 is 1, 2 is 3, and 3 is 4 what or who is 2?

Re: History Challenge
finally I think group 1 is Canned Heat
all played on August 16/17 1969, at the Woodstock Music & Art Fair that took place on a dairy farm in Bethel, NY.

Jimbob gets it up to the net but it bounces back off the bar...can anyone chip it in for a goal?
correct re bands 2 and 3, semi correct the date (be more specific and you get answer 3), and the location is Woodstock Music Festival 1969
but Band 1 is not Canned Heat, and we are still missing the answer to riddle question 3
3) When 1 is 1, 2 is 3, and 3 is 4 what or who is 2?
(the photo numbers...who should be at 2?)

Re: History Challenge
After all the clues:
No1 is the Grease Band and No2 would then be Joe Cocker, it's the opening line-up for Woodstock on the 17th August 1969.
(I wouldn't have got that in a thousand years without all the hints.)

SM
too early in the morning here to try and make fibonacci series out of your clues
I'll give you '25 or 6 to 4' on my working it out
Anyway to have Jimbob Hendrix close the Woodstock show in the morning while people pack up to go home was incomphrensible.
It would be the only time I would want to stand up for 'star mangled spanner' to be played.
