Hi folks,

Sorry to ask what sounds like a layman's question, but I downloaded KM Player and am having trouble making it the default player for everything, keeps trying the use Windows Media Player which I want to go to sleep, also when I try to play stuff owith WMP it keeps giving me the option to move/copy  .

Any help on switching it (WMP) off and making KM Player the default for everything?

SF

If you have Vista, try going to Control Panel, Default Programs, and setting KM player as default player in the Auto play section.

That may work.

Not Vista KD, it's XP Pro, but some super SP3 on steroids 2010 version with all the Windows 7 icons/looks etc that I managed to find.

Thanks for the reply though.

Been in there just now, still won't do it, I must be doing something wrong.

I even tried uninstalling it (WMP) and it just said it'll roll back to the previous version, not what I asked though so didn't do it.

Cheers though man.

Uninstall and Reinstall KM Player, you should be able to tick a box to use it as default, although the box is usually ticked and you untick it if you don't want to use it as default.

I have been running this programme for a while, to check my computer security etc.

Doesn't do away with running a good Anti virus, but it finds all the patches my system needs without me having to search for them.

Anyone else running it?

Thanks for that BaaBaa+KD, did what you said BB and uninstalled it then reinstalled it, but you have to go into 'custom setup' in the wizard and it's easy to miss, just have to tick everything for it to be used as default.

WMP,, had to give up last night as objectivity levels were dropping drastically :cuss: and have another go today.

While I'm on this one, but could anyone throw in their 10 bahts worth on the following?

Been using a "Hijacked system scanner" (Advanced System Care Pro) to clear my computer of possible nasties. However, once run, it comes up with the answer "suggestions" regarding this section (Hijacked Systems). :?

It appears that it is 'red-flagging files that could be malware, or possible targets thus of. It points out that this is not for sure malware but could be, a great help, I must say. :|

If anyone has used anything like 'Hijack This', could they comment? It seems to be left in a very vague way, says that you shouldn't delete anything and summit the report to a forum etc to get an answer.

What's the deal with this?

Do I just have to copy/paste each one of the files into Google to check if it is malware or not?

The tweaking program gives the option of "Fix issue(s)" which is also vague/ambiguous IMO. Does that mean delete it or what?

Is there any easy way round this apart from going to Google with each one individually and making a decision of that, or summiting it to a forum of people I don't know?

Any comments/help/clarity are welcome from all.

Is the following desktop PC any good? not bad? not worth the effort? worth using with a few upgrades?

Dell Dimension 2400, CPU Celeron 2.60GHz, 256MB RAM
Modem: Intel 537EP V9x DF PCI
Graphics: Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV
Screen: Dell E773P 17" Optimal Resolution 1024x768 at 75Hz

Will be used for basic home use ie: internet, music, videos, photo editing, knocking one out occassionally, databases, emailing etc. If worth keeping do the modem and graphics card want upgrading, and are they easy to get in Hua Hin bearing in mind (if it's relevant) the pc came over from UK?

Would a new higher spec flat screen be worth getting, or is it all about the graphics card?

Many thanks,

SJ

they're not bad little machines, very reliable.
i used to have one & 2 family members still do.
i would take spitfire's advice though & upgrade the ram to at least 512 mb & maybe add a decent sound card.

should be ideal for what you want it for, occasionally knocking one out & all

Thanks for help chaps, will do the memory upgrade thing it's diabolically slow at the moment.

Must have pasted that 'other' comment in by mistake, it was from a football messageboard and about how to deal with Arsenal fans, occassionally :naughty:

Thanks,
SJ
