Yes, of course, but it wasn't good enough, and they got rid.

A trivia item - I’ve been watching a drama called Ripper Street on Amazon Prime and the episode I watched last night (S4 Ep4) featured a football team called Thames Ironworks which was formed in 1895 and in 1900 it was renamed as West Ham United!!

Yes, but at 95%+ of other clubs, that would have been deemed a hugely successful season. Not a flop or failure by any means.
Same with what he achieved at Derby.

But he doesn't get a coconut.
I agree, finishing 4th in the Premier League is no mean feat, and whilst he was under a transfer embargo, he didn't have a bad squad, with a few kids coming through.
Everton had a crap squad, and he's done very little to steady the boat. Sometimes employing a name, as opposed to somebody with a proven record in avoiding relegation is not always the best idea. I think Everton have been top flight for as long as I've been supporting football. The top league just won't be the same without them. However, I think they've got a fight on their hands, and unless he puts his boots back on, I really can't see Lampard doing too much to help.

Since 1954. Last time they were relegated was 1950.

That's a long time. The only other ever-present that I can think of is Arsenal.

Just looked this up, and of course Arsenal have been relegated! And they didn't get back into the top flight for 6 years!!
(They were relegated in 1913 and back in div 1 in 1919... can't imagine why it took so long!!

Well Spurs were relegated 27/28 season in the 30s and 40s were only in the first division in 33/34 and 34/35, can't imagine why that took so longdtaai-maai wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 9:50 pmJust looked this up, and of course Arsenal have been relegated! Everton was a founder member of the Football League in 1888 and has competed in the top division for a record 118 seasons, having missed only four top-flight seasons (1930–31, 1951–52, 1952–53 and 1953–54). Everton is the second-longest continuous serving club in English top flight football[2] and ranks third in the all-time points rankings.[3] The club has won nine league titles,

It won't do them, nor their fans, any harm if they are relegated. Complacancy can be a killer. After Chelseas success in the late 60's, early 70's, my formative years were spent visiting such grounds as Oxford, Luton, Blackpool, Bolton (basically a tie breaker, to see who were relegated to the old division 3. Now league 1) et al. Plus we faced an existential crisis off the pitch. After a few yo-yo's up and down, we came back much stronger and were an established top-6 team before Abramovich.

Re: Premier League 2021-22
Villa 0 - 4 Spurs
Well, I wasn't expecting that after 40 minutes!! 4th place looking like a serious chance (again), unless we manage to screw things up in the last 7-8 games. But no, this is Spurs, we couldn't do that, could we??

Re: Premier League 2021-22
Can we begin to dream of top 4? It's a tough ask but the run-in and current form favours us. But...we're Tottenham.
A perfect day of football. United crap. Arsenal crap. Tottenham only crap for 45 minutes.

Watching Man City-Liverpool. With 6 minutes to go City have just brought on Grealish. I'd forgotten they'd paid a not-so-small fortune for him, he seems to be 2nd choice these days. I wonder if he wishes he'd stayed at Villa where he was a hero?
