Early army signalling systems were usually either a complete cock-up or a complete balls-up ... but sometimes both.

It was fairly obvious that the supposition that the Scot's couldn't give a toss was somewhat flawed.....

We could have problems with the results this week. The mail to the judges has been quarantined. I would guess that at best the results will be delayed .................................. watch this space - I will advise when i know more.

lindosfan1 you are next in line for guest judge - would you be available to mark at short notice if required please?

OK lindos, you can stand down - at least 1 form has got through, so we'll have a result.

A big thank you to dtaai-maai who once again did the collation /marking:

This week's top 5:

5th Frank Hovis with "Early army signalling systems were usually either a complete cock-up or a complete balls-up ... but sometimes both." (15 Points)

4th dtaai-maai with "The first Spot the Ball competition appeared in the Glasgow Herald in 1908." (16 Points)

2nd= migrant with "The Scottish method of observing the enemy in battle turned out to not work so well" (18 Points)

2nd= dtaai-maai with "All the lads were tossers, but wee Dickie was the one who enjoyed being tossed." (18 Points)

1st place goes to dtaai-maai with "Tossing Big Willie put a smile on everyone's face." (24 Points)

Thank you very much to all who participated. Better luck next time to those who didn't win.

dtaai-maai you now have until 23:59 on 31 May 15 to post the next entry. Competition results will be announced on 5 June 15.

Big Boy's favourite - "Early army signalling systems were usually either a complete cock-up or a complete balls-up ... but sometimes both."

Next week's guest judge will be lindosfan1, so you are barred from 'valid' captions for the next 7 days.

In view of this week's results, and before the jokes start flying in, can I just clarify that I am NOT a judge, I just tot up their scores!
BB, I won't be offended if you don't keep thanking me every week!

I should add, however, that I have every respect for the remarkable sense of humour and refined taste displayed by the judges.
