Certainly agree with Norris' quality, but he won't be in Mercedes' plans anytime soon (unless LH goes). Cracking performance from him considering McLaren's troubles with stability, noticeably so with an increase in wind...... ("Flatulence"? Don't go there DM)!dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 3:21 amAgreed, and I know he's in the Merc stable, but give me Lando Norris any time!

Pole is the key here - incredibly difficult overtaking. That said, the speed of the Pit Stop..... Red Bull's fastest this season is apparently 1.9 seconds!!

As if.

What does it for me is that Norris is outperforming Ricciardo, who's a really good, and very experienced, driver.

For sure - if I had a hat, I'd take it off as they saydtaai-maai wrote: ↑Mon May 10, 2021 3:59 amWhat does it for me is that Norris is outperforming Ricciardo, who's a really good, and very experienced, driver.

Norris, Lecrlerc and Russell are there to stay that is for sure.... Can't say the same for Tsunoda - bitching like a ponce during qualifying that Gasley has a better setup/favoritism. Then the only DNF of the race!!

As it should be - utter madness to suggest it in the first place considering the conditions in Turkey.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 9:44 pm Turkish GP canceled

Hadn't realised the first two practice sessions were held today
The 3rd practice will be on Saturday along with qualifying..... Ferrari looking quick at the moment.

This is a bit rich (no pun intended) coming from Hamilton, particularly as he was sponsored by McLaren from age 13... and working class? Bit of a stretch, I think. I can't help thinking he's always got one eye on self-publicity.

Lewis Hamilton says Formula 1 has become a "billionaire boys' club".
The seven-time champion told Spain's AS newspaper it would not be possible for him to break into the sport from his background if he tried to do so now.
"Growing up in a normal working class family, there is no way I could be here - the guys you are fighting against have that much more money," he said.
"We have to work to change that to make it more accessible, for the rich and for people with more humble origins."

Re: 2021 F1 News and Prediction Tournament
Well, his old man had to work a number of jobs to get him there in the early days... Now one of the highest paid with salary and endorsements, he does have some neck I must admit!
Incredible talent, but I don't think any sportsman (or otherwise) is worth that kind of salary..... Jealousy does creep in - the only thing my bank account has in common with his, is that it has lots of zero's!!

Well, I take his point to a degree, with Lance Stroll (who, let's face it, is a decent driver in his own right), the Japanese new boy, and probably one or two others, but Ricciardo, Ocon, Bottas, Perez, Gasly, Alonso (bored now, so I'll stop), etc., were hardly from privileged backgrounds, they just had supportive families, a competitive nature, and an early start in racing.

Totally agree, it still raises the question of how do you get involved on talent alone,. Very difficult for anybody. I think unless you have money to start with, uyou have no chance.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 2:10 am Well, I take his point to a degree, with Lance Stroll (who, let's face it, is a decent driver in his own right), the Japanese new boy, and probably one or two others, but Ricciardo, Ocon, Bottas, Perez, Gasly, Alonso (bored now, so I'll stop), etc., were hardly from privileged backgrounds, they just had supportive families, a competitive nature, and an early start in racing.

Re: 2021 F1 News and Prediction Tournament
Well, let's face it - F1 as some other sports is very privileged and as you, I can see his point to an extent. Aside from the "Race Issue" (let's not go there) he's using/pushing the "underprivileged" and I think his big dig is against the Russian Mazepin who's ("Billionaire") father basically bought him the drive. He's done nothing, but at least is not quite as dangerous (IMHO) than Tsunoda ("the Japanese new boy"), who should be keeping quiet rather than bad mouthing his team both over the radio and in public regarding his own inability - he has a lot to learn.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Fri May 21, 2021 2:10 am Well, I take his point to a degree, with Lance Stroll (who, let's face it, is a decent driver in his own right), the Japanese new boy, and probably one or two others, but Ricciardo, Ocon, Bottas, Perez, Gasly, Alonso (bored now, so I'll stop), etc., were hardly from privileged backgrounds, they just had supportive families, a competitive nature, and an early start in racing.
STILL, LH is hardly underprivileged - as I've said, great talent. BUT if he wants respect in "his cause", look a little closer to home with regards to his lifestyle (family dealings), comments - not to mention (non) tax payments!!.
Oh dear, I've had a beer
