One thing that mystified me though was the crowd booing Beckham - I couldn't see that he did anything wrong. In fact there were glimpses of the old magic with some of his cross-field passing.
South Africa here we come

Yeah, we'll ignore the fact Green fumbled the cross, Cole could have cleared and maybe, just maybe, a Centreback could have cleared it when it come into the box or when it was bouncing around for 5 minutes.Big Boy wrote:Does that include the one he cocked up on to gift the Croatians their consolation?
'Fumbled the cross' BaaBaa? It was a brilliant save from a header! I'd say the most to blame (if anyone) was John Terry, as he lost his man (Eduardo) to allow him to (a) get the first header in, and (b) put the ball in second time. But the full back's job (Johnson) is to stop the ball coming in in the first place, so he has to take a share of the blame.BaaBaa. wrote:Yeah, we'll ignore the fact Green fumbled the cross, Cole could have cleared and maybe, just maybe, a Centreback could have cleared it when it come into the box or when it was bouncing around for 5 minutes.
Or we could call it Johnsons "cock up" that a winger managed to get a cross in once in the whole game.
I meant the shot, both of them. (This bloody edit function)Wanderlust wrote:'Fumbled the cross' BaaBaa? It was a brilliant save from a header! It was also fortunate that Eduardo was on the referee's 'bad boys' list after the Celtic dive. Otherwise he'd have been awarded a sure fire penalty after Johnson climbed all over him.BaaBaa. wrote:Yeah, we'll ignore the fact Green fumbled the cross, Cole could have cleared and maybe, just maybe, a Centreback could have cleared it when it come into the box or when it was bouncing around for 5 minutes.Big Boy wrote:Does that include the one he cocked up on to gift the Croatians their consolation?

Surely that was Cole's fault because the ball came in from the left?Big Boy wrote:It was also fortunate that Eduardo was on the referee's 'bad boys' list after the Celtic dive. Otherwise he'd have been awarded a sure fire penalty after Johnson climbed all over him.
no, do what all good defenders do, get on the right side of the man!!BaaBaa. wrote:
What should he have done, given Eduardo a free header?
