Another stoll in the park thrashing mighty Andorra 6 - 0. I don't think anybody had a good or bad game - just did what they had to.

One thing that mystified me though was the crowd booing Beckham - I couldn't see that he did anything wrong. In fact there were glimpses of the old magic with some of his cross-field passing.

South Africa here we come
Championship Plymouth Argyle 1 - 2 Leeds Utd

I know, Glen Johnson should have stopped all the goals against the home nations.

I'm glad I'll be watching the world cup in Thailand because I'll smash my TV in if I have to listen to the dirge that is the commentary on England games.

Does that include the one he cocked up on to gift the Croatians their consolation?

Yeah, we'll ignore the fact Green fumbled the cross, Cole could have cleared and maybe, just maybe, a Centreback could have cleared it when it come into the box or when it was bouncing around for 5 minutes.

Or we could call it Johnsons "cock up" that a winger managed to get a cross in once in the whole game.

'Fumbled the cross' BaaBaa? It was a brilliant save from a header! I'd say the most to blame (if anyone) was John Terry, as he lost his man (Eduardo) to allow him to (a) get the first header in, and (b) put the ball in second time. But the full back's job (Johnson) is to stop the ball coming in in the first place, so he has to take a share of the blame.

Hard to believe its less than 2 years since Croatia beat us 3-2 at Wembley and we failed to qualify for Euro 2008,leading to McClarens dismissal.
This campaign....what a transformation....Played 8 Won 8.
All credit to Capello for achieving this transformation.
Yep,looking forward to viewing the finals in Thailand myself.
As for Englands chances....well,I think they are short of a top class goalkeeper and have to hope the likes of Terry,Gerrard and Rooney dont pick up injuries just before the finals.
But I dont think there is all the hype and pressure there was surrounding 2004 so England might do quite well

I meant the shot, both of them. (This bloody edit function)

I wasn't blaming Green, he should be Englands no1.

I was just pointing out the so called "Analysis" of Tyldesley and co is shocking.

Glen Johnson is flavour of the month for the "Experts" to have a go at so they don't even bother analysing how the rest of the defence could have prevented the goal, they had 3 shots in the area following the cross.

Zonal marking, Rotation, Fergies mindgames, Rooneys not a dirty player he's passionate etc. The press and pundits repeat the same lines so much people take it as fact, even though the actual facts prove otherwise.

I like how the comments tear into Cascarino after this article. :guns:

Football world cup 2010

Gordon Brown is reported to have congratulated Fabio Capello and the English team on their qualification and wishes them well next year. Two faced prick, he must be the only Scotsman claiming to be pleased.

It was also fortunate that Eduardo was on the referee's 'bad boys' list after the Celtic dive. Otherwise he'd have been awarded a sure fire penalty after Johnson climbed all over him.

Surely that was Cole's fault because the ball came in from the left?

Or is that not how it works when we're are looking for scapegoats?

What should he have done, given Eduardo a free header?

no, do what all good defenders do, get on the right side of the man!!

like i said before, johnson is great going forward but his defending does need some working on.
he got done to easily for croatia's goal & was caught napping against slovenia on saturday in a similar fashion too. :?

i'm sure benitez & capello will be working on this particular weakness in his game & if he ends up being able to defend as well as he attacks, he would be world class.

cashley cole is pretty similar too, not ideal when you're gonna be facing some of the best in the business, as they will in south africa :|
