Not the same here as Pattaya where there are many groups playing all of the time! With Bernies group you can play if you invited and play with a member, normal green fee is payable unless someone who is a member of the course can sign you in. Drop by and introduce yourself and see whats going on. :thumb:

Sorry, but that's still about $70 per round with (required) caddy and tip. With a cart (which to me is essential in this heat), it's around $100 which is double what I ever paid for a round or golf with a cart in the U.S. Lets face it, as far as golf is concerned this is a tourist priced destination like Hawaii or the Monterey peninsula. Not good news for local golfers even at a discount.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

You would have thought that they would advertise it on there own site, as well as sponsoring HHF. However they are still in April :-( on their own site

They still haven't got there May prices online - What a shambles! What type of organisation are they running?

I thought they were dutch run but it looks like they do things the Thai way!

The ""talked about"" golf course in soi 88 appeared to be a myth when the horse paddocks became reality.... but I spoke to the owner of land in that area and the golf course is still looking like starting within the next 6 months.. fingers crossed.

Where can non-members play golf?

Post by tijeigrin »

1. Can someone please list for me the golf courses where a newcomer to Hua Hin, who has no club membership, can play golf?
2. What are the fees?
3. Can one walk with a pull-cart?

Isn't there a course down near Ao Manao that lomuamart plays, which is basically turn up, pay minimal fees and you're allowed to pull your own trolley?

My understanding is that it is a Caddie Union "LAW" that requires you to pay for a caddie with every round of golf. You can leave the caddie behind, but still have to pay for them. Actually not a bad thing to have such a requirement to provide employment for caddies. IMHO It actually helps those that are working directly as opposed to programs that never reach the needy.

You can play without a caddie at par 3 BM and pull your own :D

http://www.banyanthailand.com/Golf/rate ... vation.php - Still no rates. What a let down. Would be nice to know why they don't keep the information up-to-date!

That's Dolphin Bay,
A great lay-out, reasonable length. great scenery but not in the best of condition.

Slight bit of confusion here.
What Iomuamart is talking about is the 9-hole municipal course at Dolphin Bay (approx. 40 minutes south of Hua Hin by car) - officially free and 30 baht for a cart, no caddy required.

What Big Boy is talking about is the 9 (last time I went 10) hole airforce course at Au Manao just outside Prachuabkirikhan town (approx. 1 1/2 h south of Hua Hin by car) - 180 baht for 18 holes (go round twice with different tees for the 2nd 9), no caddy required - reasonable condition and quite a bit longer than Dolphin Bay.

Sorry guys, this is golf - I openly admit that I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about  I just remembered reading what lomu had written once.

My confusion as well. Forgot about the course at Ao Manao. barrys has put us straight.
I've only played there once and again it was a good lay-out and certainly longer that Dolphin Bay. Like you, barrys, we couldn't work out where the 10th hole came from. I think maybe something to do with going round a second time to get 18 in. That hole was around the 7th - I've got a scorecard here. But the 7th is a par 5 - 525/550 depending on tee and that extra hole we played as a par 3. The 6th is a par 4 so where the hell this "extra" green appeared from - well, I was confused at the time and still am.
To tijeigrin, have a look here - http://www.tourismhuahin.com/golf-huahin.php I think the prices should be fairly up-to-date. Remember that as we get into low season, the courses do discount and run promotions. August and September have the golf festival when most courses charge only 800 THB for green fee (caddie included? Can't remember).

S& M

You will find that most good courses will not let you go round without your caddie. Has nothing to do with 'Caddy Union' but more to do with the caddy repairing damage from divots etc as you go round.

Years ago Royal Hua Hin allowed you to pull your own cart but now seems to be only certain local Thai's are able to do so.
