There are not many places in the world which are nearly impossible to get in, North Korea being one of them.
Just imagine what it would be like if you got a visa...
What a fantastic trip it would be. Put me down for one now.... :D

i would imagine it would be something like the former ussr was back in the early 80's.
once you got past the arduous task of getting a visa, then through the ordeal of passport control & immigration, it was well worth the hassle.
not as sinister as expected & quite an experience in all honesty

Coincidentally I thought the same.

On the other hand, it also occurred to me that it might be like visiting a 50k square mile version of a 60s UK industrial estate/power station.

That is, of course, nonsense, and if someone gave me a free ticket and visa I'd go. But I'd need the option of leaving earlier than planned!

Am I the only one who doesn't know where he's been?

I am with you on that one guess. This post was tried a couple of years ago,I thought it was pretty crass then and has not improved with a rerun.
Travel is dear to the heart to me as I have been going since 1956 on my first trip to Paris with my dad.He phoned home after 3 days and his boss told him he had received his recall papers for the Army were preparing to invade the canal zone.My Dad fortunately finished his holiday before getting the khaki back on.Travel to me is a very personal thing, like the ladies I have slept with in my 60 years.Me I am still travelling hard but I dont really discuss it with anyone as I know its profoundly boring to others.Anyway I thought Ouvre ran Check point Charlie.

I think it's safe to say that Orang Utans (forest people) only live in the wild on Borneo and Sumatra which is occupied by Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.

I have been to the same area and I agree Bandah Aceh is/was worth the visit. It is also one of the last real wild homes of the very rare Sumatran Rhino. I fear that everybody I met there is now dead.

I did not list Indonesia because I have already been there but it is a vast country and enough to see for a lifetime.

The visa back out may be more difficult than the visa to get in...

Visa requirements for DPRK don't look too daunting.

Y gotta love the N Korean sense of irony.... The D in DPRK is for Democratic..... errr...........

there must be some good things to see there but I remember seeing an episode of Lonely Planet where they sent the little chirpy bloke there....after a week all his chirpiness was gone and he said it wasnt on his list of places to go back to.

Y probably wouldnt want to use the same passport to go to the USA afterwards either :thumb:

IMPORTANT! Please note that US, South Korean and Israeli citizens are allowed to visit the DPRK as tourists only on special occasions, like for example Mass Games. Professional journalists, regardless of their nationality, must apply for a special permission to visit North Korea.

Only the three countries???
