The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
I understand that there will be one when the construction is finished but it is not available at the moment.
Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
The building looks great Dr Mike... like a 5 star hotel!
Later on, will there be food franchises within the hotel like in the big Bangkok hospitals, and guest rooms for family to stay in while they have a loved one in the hospital?

Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
I enjoy the forum because i think I knowas much as I needto know then get questions that stump me. Food Franchises: I have no idea, here in BKK on Soi Soonvijai we are pretty remote from any restauarnt area and so have made on-site provisions. In HH we are within walking ditance of Village Market (or is it Market Village) with heir array of restauarnts. There will be coffee shops etcfor sure. In the present phase we have no provisionfor in-house accomadation for families, but as we expand that could happen.
Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
I'm willing to bet the private rooms at BHHH (is that the code?) will have a large sofa and a frig. The other 3 Bangkok Group hospitals I've been to are set up that way. Enough HHF for one adult to sleep on and if needed I've seen them roll in a cot for the kid(s).
I'm assuming all the rooms at BHHH will be private, no wards or semi-private. Pete

Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
Yes, I was amazed here about visiting times and who the visitors can be. I think in the States it's still no kid visitors under 12 unless it's to see immediate family who aren't expected to make it. Like Dr. Mike said, visiting times are anytime except ICU. I've seen entire families show up with supplies at dinner time and start a camp out.
I believe the thinking is that family and friends present is good for the patient and assists the healing process, at least mentally. I agree with that philosophy

Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
Driving by last night I saw two ambulances ready to roll so must be close to opening.
Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
"visiting hours" are more to do with when you can't be tee, rather than when you can.
We have a very liberal policy--we do at time impose controls, first day after surgery, only immediate family. First day after childbirth the same--I have seen patients exhausted by visitors coming in large groups and staying too long. But generally its very liberal and even after surgery or childbirth, one family member can stay all night and sleep on the sofa-bed.
Opening ceremony tomorrow--Monks, mayors and music---and then we start some medicine!

Contrats and good luck on the opening. I'm looking forward to trying out one of your ambulances in... er... hopefully 20 or 25 years...

Can anyone advise me exactly where the new hospital is and is there an emergency number for the ambulance service in case we ever need it.

Dr. Mike,032 616 888
According to signs posted around town, I believe the emergency number is "1719". Is this incorrect?

Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
That is true--that is an Emergency number and we like to keep it for that.
Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
Dr Mike,
Against my wishes I've had the odd accident and spent time in BBK Hospitals elsewhere in Thailand for a "duration" or two, choice of hospital was out of my own choice though. Regarding the post about cafe/restaurant facilities etc then the ones I stayed in (not HH or BBK) had hairdressers/choice of ATMs/Thai style food court and much else, almost reminded me of a mini mall really, which is good as many that have health issues can't just wander round all over the show.
I suppose the Bangkok Hospitals had shop space and just rented it out to enterprising individuals who wanted to start a business.
Will there be the same modus operandi in Hua Hin's Bangkok hospital so we might see lots of different services close by?
Just food for thought and understand you may not be aware of intended services to be offered up and that it may morph as time goes on, but might be good to let everyone know what you know or think may shape itself in the future.
Many thanks.

Re: The new Bangkok Hospital in Hua Hin
You know there are so many medical things to take care of that I am not sure that we have done much planning in the restaurant and shopping mall areas, Getting the quality of the medical care up to speed, that our Xrays and lab are giving us accurate results, that our Emergency teams are prepared for emergencies---we are putting all our energy into those activities. I think that people are looking for good medical care from our hospital not good restaurants and shopping. Extras later.
