Documentaries

Hitting the Apex - 2015
Nothing new here for fans of Moto GP. Plenty of drama, some off track, for others.
Core of the story is the 5 fastest young guys challenging the reigning master, Valentino Rossi, in the seasons after Yamaha made him an offer he could refuse for the 2011 season. Rossi was old for Moto GP, the 5 had won everything in sight on their climb to Moto GP. The stories of each of the 5 are presented in flashback with period film and video. The stories cover their personalities and how that is incorporated into their racing which makes their behavior at the Moto GP level easier to understand. Narration is low key and understated, e.g. 'Crashing hurts, and it breaks the bike'. Written by Mike Neale. It's his sixth documentary in the world Moto GP
Great HD copies around.

Re: Documentaries
Thanks for that, very enjoyable and good run up to the start of this year's MotoGP season.
One I've just watched is BBC's Great Barrier Reef with David Attenborough - it was great to see where I used to work in full HD. Some stunning camera work and always a pleasure watching Sir D.A. at work.

Marty Feldman - Six Degrees of Separation
2008 BBC documentary about the personal and professional life of Marty Feldman. It was a little weird at first seeing Gene Wilder so soon after his passing.

Just watched the first episode of Nat Geo's Mars which is running at the moment. It is half doco, half sci-fi, and very good if you're into this sort of stuff as I am.

Thailand Docu
There was a good Docu on Sunday night on BBC2 for any of you with Expat TV, Catch up etc.
First one was in the South about the wildlife and how humans and animals are learning to live together.
Enjoy

Re: Documentaries
Also on BBC was one about Wildlife & Nature in South Thailand. Called Thailand: Earths Tropical Paradise. Covered Monkeys, Elephants, Water Buffalo, Soft Shell Crabs, birds making nests for the soup and a fair bit underwater with fish & coral. Part of a series about Thailand, next episode is Bkk so I doubt it will be about nature.

Too Funny to Fail: The Life & Death of The Dana Carvey Show (2017)
Between Saturday Night Live and the Wayne's World movies, Dana Carvey was one of the most popular American comedians in the late 80s and early 90s. He left SNL because he wanted to do something new. Ended up in prime time on ABC with a sketch comedy show. ABC thought they were shelling out big money for the same Dana they knew from SNL. Nope. He wanted to do something as different from the expected as Monty Python had been in their day.
The performers were also comedy writers and they were fearless at both. They pushed the edge far and hard. They had big fun. Five went on to big careers. The show was canceled after 7 episodes. The documentary is funny. It's on piratebay.
