The video being shown on Thai Channel 3 news is a very edited version of the video in the above link. My honest interpretation of the Thai news version, which I looked at several times before viewing the forum version was Farangs fallen down drunk in the gutter (I didn't even realise I was looking at the Hua Hin Songkran incident).

OK, the above link is very graphic, and there was probably a censorship issue on Thai News, but I think many Thais will be wondering what the fuss is all about.

Hello all. I'm the Bangkok correspondent for The Daily Telegraph. As has been noted here, this incident is attracting major media attention. If anyone was able to contact me about what happened - and particularly Usual Suspect - then could you please contact me at 097 045 1975 or via philip.sherwell@telegraph.co.uk Thanks and best, Philip

Yes, Big Boy, that's something common, usual in Thai life. It happens every day all around Thailand. That's the behavior of an uneducated, primitive and violent nation.

I've watched the video and its brutal and shocking. I honestly have never met Thais that would perform such a heinous act. They didn't look drunk to me, maybe high on something. Fair play to the Thai police for releasing the video, it certainly flies in the face of a cover up. Hope these animals rot in jail.

I want to ensure I understand what is being said here.

Person A assaults person B twice.

Person B fights back and kicks person A's backside.

Person A is the victim.

Did I miss anything, because that is exactly what happened in the video.

The missus just read on some Thai site that the culprits were arrested.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

The guiding principle of 'Common Law ' the subject of an common assault has the right to defend themselves against the attack. The basic test being that they 'use no more force than is reasonably necessary to defend themselves.' How the respective Thai legislative instrument Regarding Crimes against the Person treats this or what Case Law or Precidence there is in Thailand will ultimately be applied through judicial process. it will be interesting to see what the outcome will be.

I think that when someone kicks someone sitting helplessly in the road, in the head, with all the force they can muster, as witnessed in the film, thus rendering them unconscious and needing emergency hospital treatment as a consequence, for injuries that could have killed them, then I cannot understand anyone questioning who is the victim or aggressor. It's gone beyond that.

Yes.
I believe that you are quite right!
Has this something to do with education or is it as simple that most people in this country don't care what they do..
I am a strongly believer that this incident would never take place if the schools in this country could start to teach children the way forward.
My own stepson and two stepdaughters are just finished highscool but have no idea where Beijing is nor what the Nile is.
I think that everything has something to do with education.

Muppet!

Retaliating and putting someone on their backside is one thing. Booting someone, with full force, in the face while they are semi-conscious is another. Booting an old lady in the face with full force is something else altogether.

RCer, you sound like a wrong 'un.
