Coming to Hua Hin once again this year. Am thinking of not only playing local courses but moving further a field and taking in Dragon Hills and Royal Ratchaburi for a few rounds. Rather than travel there daily was thinking of staying in the area for a few days. Would appreciate advice on accomodation in the area. Would like apartment or hotel with pool. Also any other courses that we might consider outside of Hua Hin

Good to see Springfield in excellent condition and much quieter now. No problem for members to get a tee time now and should be no problem all the way through to next Xmas.
Condition should be better this year with the addition of the consultant greenkeeper.

There is now a weekly competition for members and guests, organised at Majestic Creek every thursday. They have a golf committee and they run the competitions and handicapping, with very low entrance fee, 200 bht plus normal course fees.

There are a variety of games from medals, stablefords and team games, with excellent prizes.

To enter you can ring Majestic and they will give you the entry details.

It is run just like a normal European club competition and is a first for Hua Hin.

Happy golfing!

Played Thanarat today (badly) for the first time in over twelve years. About the only thing that hasn't changed is the quality , or not, of the fairways. My standard of golf does not warrant the level of charges at the majority of courses round here. I have fond memories of a US$100 monthly membership at Springfield but realise things have moved on. I thoroughly enjoyed my round mainly I think because i did not go there with any high expectations. Am toying with going to Kaeng Krachan one day but unlikely to bother going all the way to Ratchaburi just in search of a cheap game.

Perhaps, and not sure if it has been suggested although I did a search, it would be a good idea to have separate posts for specific information on a particular course which members could update after they have made a visit to pass on their experience, the costs, conditions etc etc rather than have to troll through a huge amount of pages with information on courses they are not interested in (I am sure most know what Thanarat is like and only a few are interested in playing there). They could then focus on the courses they are interested in while more general comments can be added to this topic.

Thats a great deal, once we get some rain it will be cool to play there, the rumour is that Singha does plan to invest in Royal, imagine it in good order - it will be beautiful!

Not trying to be pessimistic but is the 800 green fee for Royal include farangs or only Thais and do you need to book.

Will give Royal a try sometime soon. Hua Hin seems to attract some strange folks and the golf courses get more than their fair share. Suspect the guy Moose was on about was wanting to play a round on his own and was emanating a 'do not even ask' aura.

That would be great if Singha get involved.

A few years ago they funded Singha Park in Khon Kaen which now hosts the Asian Tour Kings Cup every year. Not sure the green fees will stay low though. :(

Yes it is a great layout, but with no fairway watering it really is a great deal ONLY once the rains have started - July onwards ?

heres my speil on springfield golf club...i bought a family lifetime membership a few months ago, that was before playing on the course or even visiting it,i also have never played on any other hua hin courses. The only reference i had was thru this forum and i felt the bargain price i paid was worth a punt.So the only comparisons i have are to courses i have played in australia.
My first impressions of the clubhouse is probably what i imagine an american country club to look like, large hotel style with fantastic resort style pool,a few restaurants/cafe bars, pretty impressive set up.I used the driving range and chip/putting greens the first few weeks, nice to be able to hit the ball off grass tees for a change rather than the commercial plastic grass tees at driving ranges in oz.I also found the staff to be very friendly, they drive you to the range in the carts and most of the ground staff you pass are smiling and happy as well.
Today was my first round ,i played A and C,B is under maintenance and closed for a month or so.
A course is a picturesque 9holes,challenging without been too difficult,i missed a few birdie chances trying to get used to the greens.I would compare it to a top members course in australia.
C course is a bit longer, not as shady as the A course, might look nice after some of the dams fill with water, reasonably hard because of the length, but if you stay straight its ok,probably a middle to top members course equivalent to australian courses.
Overall i enjoyed playing their and teeing off at 7am it wasn't too hot and had the course to myself. The fairways were nice and green and the ball sat well and played nicely off it.The greens are faster than they look, the ball ran true on the green with no bumps,so no excuses for bad putting.
I don't think it would be a championship course at home, but definitely a pga qualifying standard course in oz,and they do have the asian qualifiers here.
My caddie was very good, she even new after the first few holes when i was going to bump and run near the greens, handing me my 8iron instead of a wedge, she read the greens better than i did and even though my putting cost me alot of strokes, she saved me a few as well.
I know a lot of people complain about the price of the restaurant food and beers, but i like to have a beer and a quick bite after golf, and i think if you don't support the club, they will keep putting fees up to compensate and really, compared to the price at the clubs at home a couple hundred baht isn't too bad.All in all i'm glad i bought the membership and hopefully now will start playing 2 or three times a week.

That is very interesting, but re your comment about the catering, I thought it was franchised out, if so one might just as well eat nearby at a much cheaper rate - perhaps it is in-house now, anyone know please ?
