Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
Had my first AstraZeneca jab today at HHH. Very well organised. Second jab 28 September.
Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
Can I ask how you qualified for such an early jab? Elsewhere I have seen teachers receiving the jab, and bizarrely, in Korat, a case where a farang turned up with a pink(?) ID card and was inoculated, with the hospital subsequently stating it was a mistake and won't happen again!malcolminthemiddle wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 6:48 pm Had my first AstraZeneca jab today at HHH. From Johnson:
ASEAN are still waiting!
From Biden:He announced: “At Carbis Bay, the G7 will pledge to distribute vaccines to inoculate the world by the end of next year, with millions coming from surplus UK stocks.”
From Prayut:President Biden announced plans on the summit eve to buy and donate 500 million doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine to more than 90 countries.
The Prime Minister of a country manufacturing the AZ vaccine and committed to supplying SE Asia.Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has put the brakes on walk-in services for COVID-19 vaccinations to prevent people flocking to the inoculation sites and becoming upset if they fail to secure a jab
The Bangkok Post reports that the PM insists the situation will improve with the arrival of additional vaccine doses. He says distribution had been limited due to doses arriving gradually, in batches, as opposed to all at once.
“I must apologise to anyone who experienced inconvenience. The government will try to acquire as many more vaccines as possible and not just wait for contracted vaccines. I believe that more vaccine doses will be delivered next month and services at inoculation stations in the provinces will be more conveniently managed. We do not want people who registered for vaccinations to suffer further delays.”

I mentioned the other day that another farang living in the Hua Hin area received his AZ vaccination at the HHH on Monday this week, so it’s happening!!caller wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:44 pmCan I ask how you qualified for such an early jab? A couple of farangs in Bangsaphan got their first shot on the 7th, but the hospital ran out on the second day so all further appointments have been postponed.

My wife used my pink ID to register me on the government app a few weeks ago. My appointment went from the 7th to the 9th to the 10th due to supply issues. This is a copy of the certificate they issue.caller wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:44 pmCan I ask how you qualified for such an early jab? Although it mentions by name “Astra Zeneca”, it’s a shame that it’s not available in English or dual language - that would be useful for when we start to undertake international travel once again.
Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
There's a different scheme for a formal "vaccine passport". I believe it's been mentioned somewhere on the forum.
Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
From what I can gather (need the clever people to confirm please) Hua Hin Hospital will be administering 11,000 doses of Sinovac between 14th and 18th June. This will be the 2nd dose for those already in receipt of the first Sinovac injection.

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
^^ So definitely no AZ shots next week then. Does anybody know whether Siam Bioscience is still manufacturing it? Or was this week's couple of thousand doses all that Hua Hin is getting for a while? Is anywhere getting any Thai AZ? Seems that Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan aren't.
Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
The situation in the UK isn't looking good for AZ against the 'Delta' strain. 96% of cases are from the 'Delta' strain. There has been hospitalisations and deaths in first dose vaccinations 21 days before a positive and second dose vaccinatins 14 days before positive. So much for being 100% protection against hospitalisations and deaths!
It puts into question the 'unlock' which is supposed to happen in 10 days. The pound was rising on the back of that but it's now being pushed down.
And shock horror, the Sinovac vaccine is apparently doing better against the Indian strain than the accepted vaccines.

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
I had an appointment for June 8th at Central Plaza, Korat. (This originally via the Maharath Hospital site which migrated to "Korat Prompt".)
That appointment was cancelled due to lack of vaccine and was rescheduled for the 11th. I went to Central Plaza on the 11th, completed the forms, had the health screening (weight, blood pressure, etc.) and proceeded to get a queue number to be vaccinated.'
At that point the queue worker called over a supervisor who told me that even though I was registered and had an appointment I could not be vaccinated as it was for Thais only.
I went home.

It was reported a number of times on both BBC and Sky News yesterday that of the number these 96% cases with the Indian variant, 73% had not been vaccinated.HHTel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 11:54 pm The situation in the UK isn't looking good for AZ against the 'Delta' strain. 96% of cases are from the 'Delta' strain. So to me it looks good that AZ is working?

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19
I was reading yesterday, on the BBC website I think, that most of those currently being hospitalised were younger than in previous 'waves', under 50 or 60, and that very few were older (and therefore fully vaccinated), with the result that there are likely to be fewer deaths and shorter hospital stays. Because this is unfolding now, these are stats that will not be confirmed for a week or two, which is why experts are suggesting a hold on lifting restrictions.
I don't think it's time to panic just yet.
