I was talking to a lass today who told me she was going home to Surin on the 26th to celebrate 'donta' with her family. She tried to explain what it was but we suffered a bit of communication breakdown. I've probably spelt 'donta, doneta, dontar(etc etc) incorrectly but can anyone shead some light on this and tell me what it actually is?????
Thanks Bubbly
Donta?????
In Khmer it's Donta but the Thais do not have a word for it because this is not a Thai tradition.
This tradition comes from Cambodia and is about giving food to the dead family members.
It starts in the afternoon the 28th this month and ends the same evening.
The date is not a fixed date but can vary with a few days.

I intend to live forever - so far so good.
