I've had packages shipped here using both as well as (U.S./internaional) priority mail.

I don't think UPS or Fedex have offices in town. A recent package sent by Fedex from the U.S. that was undeliverable because the residents here were not home, was returned to some office in Bangkok.

However, when people have sent me things using priority or other type of international Government mail services, they hold it in the Hua Hin post office for pick up if they don't find you at home so I think that is the best way to go.

DHL office is opposite the bank of ayuttah (yellow one) on main road near traffic lights.

used them last week and tracked the package all the way to its destination.

A few years ago I had documents sent to me from the US via FedEx. Had I not witnessed it I would have not believed it. My FedEx envelope was put in a EMS envelope and sent to Hua Hin from Bangkok. The documents took more then a week to reach me.. Don't use FedEx.... DHL all the way....

I had to ship back forgotten goods and used DHL a few years ago (office close to main traffic light in HH town) and it took 3 days from HH to central Europe- cost 40Euro. So from HH I have one good exprerience.

However, since I use a lot of courrier services back in Europe, I would nowadays recommend Fed-ex. DHL have screwed up numerous deliveries for me in the past year, without reimbursement nor apologies. Their customer service is GREAT when u are a GOOD client, but when things go wrong, they dissappear into space - or where-
ever...and NEVER bother to contact you about the zillionEuro account they had with you for the past 10 years! I will do eveything I can to avoid them nowadays.

Hi Thhere Y'all

As I heard that both FEd Ex and UPS have offices in Petchburi and rive everyday of the week a Van or two down to Cha Am/Hua Hun/Pranbiri Area to pick up psckages and deviler stuff @ the senders or recieververs adress.

It wouldn't suprise me though to see somewhere in town or @ Market Village an UPS Store or Fed Ex/Kinkos offering all mehtods of parcel delivery solutions and offer you the Option to open P. O. Boxes for a minimal monthly fee.

0p/bill. thanks for help. main idea here is to get important mail secured by delivery direct to office of fed ex,ups or dsl so it's not lost in space. we all have fear and loathing of thai mail so to get valuable stuff mailed direct from say ups in usa to office in hua hin and not to your house is i think most secure way. will check out dsl office. good info.

We have found that express mail/priority mail is dependable and faster than FedEx, UPS or DHL. More importantly it is considerably cheaper. We wouldn't hesitate to use it for anything but the most sensitive documents.

We use the Cha Am Post Office for just about everything. It is small and efficient, usually servicing only three or four other customers at a time. What a wonderful departure from having to fight the traffic, find parking etc. to get to the Hua Hin office.

Those of you looking to settle in the area shouldn't miss this little gem, which seemingly thrived once upon a time before Hua Hin became the center of attention.........if you're satisfied with a quiet, rural life check it out.

I don't think the problem is in sending stuff out from Thailand, but receiving it; we have not received mail sent from the Uk and Thailand in the past, including important documents and bills, when it has been sent 'regular' mail. Only recently my parents were sending some documents for my wife's visa application, and wanted to send it either registered or recorded delivery from the UK through the Royal Mail and were told that it wasn't possible! The only option other than that was one of the courier services, and for a simple letter they wanted £65!! I have just checked the Royal Mail website though and what my parents was told is wrong - there are a couple of different options for sending mail internationally more securely, so I don't know whether they were misinformed or got the wrong end of the stick. They have now sent these documents twice and they still haven't arrived....

Hallo there Y'All

I" don't think the problem is in sending stuff out from Thailand, but receiving it;"

Wnaderlust you are absolutley right. I had my fair share of not recieving my packages that somebody sent to me.
Once my Sisters om California had send a Package with my Christmas present inside. They've sent it to Stamford despite sending the package with USPS's Global Priority it never arrived. My aunt and relatives suspects that some nosey Customs Officer opened my Package saw what's inside and simply Jacked it for himself. From that moment on I send and recieve my stuff through UPS, FED EX or DHL Only.

I have a Fedex account and used it for the first time in HH. The motorbike courier asked me why I wasn't using DHL. It was cheaper.

I have sent paintings from Phuket PO to HH using uninsured standard delivery and was very impressed with the packing in Phuket and the quick delivery. I did go to HH PO and pointed out which were my packages just to ensure prompt and safe pickup.

I like the idea of a quiet, rural life but when I've been to Cha-Am it doesn't seem as picturesque. A bit drab. But all I've seen is the main road through it and the beach during off season. Maybe I should look again. Would like to rent a rai or two to grow organic herbs.
