Bus out of town

Post by charlesh »

Where oh where does one get a bus to go to say Hat Yai/ Chieng mai etc (ie up country) - preferably with a/c. I have seen oodles of buses going through HH to Yala, Songkla, Phuket etc and the reverse on the way back BUT have not seen themm stop in HH at a "bus station". If they run between these places and there is a bus station I guess U can also book and pay for a tickettoo ???
Thanks

Charlesh,

There's two bus stations here for that kind of bus (air-con) that I know of. There is the public bus station down on Sra Song Road (parallel to Petchkasem road but one block west) behind the old Hua Hin shopping mall and down a couple of blocks south of the market area.

Then there is the new bus station of privately owned air-con buses that is on Petchkasem Road around Sois 96 or 98.

I'm not sure if they go where you want but just go check the schedules and you may find the bus you are looking for.

Thought the station on Sra Song Road services BKK only.
As said all other buses go from the new station down past Market Village now.

That is certainly how it used to be. My understanding is that all of the southbound buses now stop in the new depot in Petchakasem around Soi 96/94. I don't understand this because it's the wrong side of the road.

Someone needs to clarify. There has been a recent thread about this.

I came the other way from Hat Yai to HH and the only bus I could find was a mini bus that was going to BBK and he was willing to stop at HH as he normally used the bypass. seems that HH and HY are not on the normal bus route, after using the mini bus I would look at getting the train.
