Visas on arrival

Post by Arcadian »

I have a friend who holds a Tunisian passport which I don`t think allows him an automatic one month tourist visa. Can he get a visa from the `Visas on arrival` desk at the airport? Any help would be appreciated as Thailand doesn`t have an embassy or consulate in Tunisia.

I'm afraid it dosn't look good for your friend. Below is the link to the MFA website with the list of countries eligible for the 15 day visa on arrival:

As you've hinted at, again your friend isn't eligible for the 30 day visa exempt stamp either:

Quite how Tunisians get into Thailand, I've no idea. It looks like the only way would be to apply through a neighbouring country's Thai Embassy or consulate.
Why not give the MFA a call in the New Year and see what they say? There's also an Imm helpline in BKK. I can't find the number, but I think it was simply 1111????? The MFA will know.

How very odd. I thought the world had developed a little further than this.

Looking it up on google, the address for the Tunisian Embassy in Thailand is in Indonesia.

I'd suggest his best bet is to find out if there is a Thai Embassy in a neighbouring country.

I've just had a quick look on google, and the only neighbouring country which appears to have a Thai Embassy is Morocco. Nothing in Algeria or Libya. Astonishing.

Alternatively, there may be an embassy of another SE Asia country which takes care of Thai interests in Tunisia.
This is the way
