Certified translations and countersignature for UK embassy

Post by buksida »

I know this has been asked before so just checking to see what the latest is on getting documents translated and certified and passport application forms countersigned in Hua Hin.

Is the place at the top of the old shopping mall still doing it and are they accepted by the British embassy?

They were when we had to in 2007, but then last year (November 2008) we needed them done in a hurry and went to a place just along from Dr Sumet - would recommend them as they were quicker and it was easy to park nearby. I think they were a bit cheaper too.

Any idea what it was called and how much they charge? Was the counter signature accepted also?

I used the shopping mall one last year, they had mine ready the following day and were accepted by the British Embassy.

Good service.

Sorry can't remember the name or the price. We didn't get the counter signatures done their as we have an English guy who is a teacher living some of the time on our development. I don't know if they do that or not. I'l have a dig around to see if I can find their info though.

Well translations were no problem but I'm really having trouble getting this countersignature. I get confusion from anyone I've shown the form to and Thai lawyers are reluctant to sign something they don't understand.

Short of finding a British doctor or judge in Hua Hin how do you get a countersignature done?

I've applied for 5 UK Passprots in the last few years, (including my kids). In everycase, my Thai Secretary has countersigned, and I've never had a problem. Even when in UK I always just used a collegaue to sign. My passports last about 18 months, due to frequent travel, so I have done this many times, last time was earlyier this year.

Winkie's right - just about anyone can do it. Find a retired Brit civil servant or professional somethingorother (there must be one or two around somewhere...) and they'll do fine.
This is the way

The lawyer did it and they've accepted that before. Good service from P&A on the third floor of the shopping mall, two certified translations (birth and marriage certs), two passport forms countersigned and stamped, two photos countersigned. 1,500 baht :thumb:
