way out 45-1hour drive going west from hh. figure 1.5-2 hours there and back. waited over 1hour to be seated. guy with family waited 2.5hours. wife flipped out when seated, guy flipped next. big scene. waiter came to our table after seating in 30 minutes for drink orders. dissappered for 15 minutes came back with menu's no drinks. drinks came after 20minutes he comes for food orders. you get the drift. lunch from seating to leaving 2 hours. food came cold and about 4 times more cost. chicken fried rice 150baht. if you go have somebody beat you with a bat first. toss up as to which you will enjoy more.

Thats a shame. We were up there for Sunday lunch about 3 weeks ago and thought it was really good. Service was fine and very friendly despite being busy, great setting, nice food and not too expensive for a posh place. And the wine is both nicer and much cheaper than anywhere else!!

I hate to join in on any complaining but we had a similar experience a few weeks ago.

We went with some friends for lunch and when we got there some party from the Governor's office or something were being served and we were told it would be a long wait. After a few minutes someone came out and seated us which was nice.

After waiting about twenty minutes for a menu or drink order we gave up and went somewhere else....they appeared to be pretty disorganized and didn't even notice us leaving.

The site was very pleasant and the menu looked great. Maybe we'll try again someday after they have a chance to get organized.

I wanted to go there with wife and friend during July. This is not very encouraging. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to pay a visit there during the week and not on weekend...

Over the last month it's been peak season for local tourists, & in July the place shouldn't be so busy. I was there in January and the place was very quiet then, with prompt attentive staff. The view from the restaurant terrace is beautiful.

I will definitely give'm a try during July...

BTW, how is their wine ? I'm quite sure the Chenin should be good enough, this grape is well adapted to tropical areas, but what about the red wine ?

The red is much improved on where it was a couple of years ago. Its Monsoon Valley, and they seem to have got the blend much better than before. Quite drinkable, and cheap if you buy it at the vineyard.

The staff mentioned to me that the Monsoon Valley wines sold on site are blended from grapes grown from their Khao Yai winery as the vineyard west of HH is still immature. Agree that the Chenin Blanc si quite drinkable and ideal for the climate.

I stumbled across this place yesterday (Sunday), if it is Hua Hin Hills Vineyard?

It is an absolute goat track to get there. Not all of it, but its pretty bad the last couple of kilometres. It was pouring down with rain, it was very busy with people milling about trying to keep out of the rain, and the staff just could not cope. Magnificent setting, do not know about the food as gave up waiting for the staff to get organised. There were vacant seats, but several large tables were taken up by just one couple, and they were not the type to share with.

For sure, do not visit on the weekend, and they are closed one day during the week, I believe Monday. Tried to find a small brochure with more details on it, but no success.
They also have a couple of Elephants there, which can be hired for a tour of the vines.

Bad and all as the road was, I was tailgated in by some idiot in his SUV on the very worst part of the road. :guns:

We were there in the beginning of April but don't remember if it was on the week end of week but earlier in the morning(10.45 am). The place was empty! Only 2 customers had a wine tasting in the bar and three other customers were riding an elephant around the vineyard. Several waiters-waitres(4-6) were standing around. We had some wine tasting since it was free, then process to seat for our lunch.(no waiting) I found out that the steak was fantastic, my wife ordered crabe fired rice and she was a little bite disappoint. So better order westerner food than thai food there.
We like it and we would like to go back again with our friend. On the way out there, several new customers were arrived and the place was filled up fast. It is only small restaurant about 10-15 tables. It is a little bite crowded since bar and wine tasting is in the same central place with restaurant so go there earlier, if not just bring your own picnick basket to picnick there since the vineyard has allocated some space for picnick ( I saw space terrace with benchs not too far from restaurant).

Sorry Playboy, my experience with the Thai food and also of many friends is that it is EXCELLENT.

I cannot believe that it has changed so much but perhaps it was just a one off - please give it another try next time.

The Thai salads have unusual but very good dressings also.

I managed to sniff this one out on the day it opened....even before they did food.

I love it!

Wine tasting set B150 and a Caesar salad, cool breezes, great views, staff remember you. Glad it's so close to where my house is being built. :D

Yes they do have VIP guests (Prince just left last visit) and this does mess things up.

I go regularly every trip. Give it a chance. chilled place especially mid week
