Mail Drop. Is it possible?

Post by bapak »

Being in a business that markets to the local Thai population, I find it very hard to find the right media to do this. Newspapers not satisfactory, radio I do not know, etc.
Considering the old mail drop that has been well used in other countries. One method is contract with the local post office to drop letter in every mail box, or a private contactor to do similar.
Has anyone had any experience in this regard? I understand that the local post office does not do this so is there a local (reliable) contractor? Or perhaps it might be worth while setting one up.
Thoughts, please.

I get adverts in my mail here all the time, so I suppose it's possible, although I think someone probably just drives down the road and sticks them in all the boxes.

You could try advertising the Thai way. Get yourself a pickup and put a big billboard ad in the bed and loud speakers on the roof with a Thai driver or recording (at maximum volume) to go up and down the sois promoting your business... :D
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Why not grab the next person delivering Pizza or Burger flyers to your door, and ask them?

There have been some previous posting on here moaning that the post office do not manage to deliver the normal mail properly let alone make brochure drops.

Here in a Australia, we have two or three local newspapers delivered each week and they also take on mail drops.
We actually use the local one where I work to deliver our shop mail outs and works very well.

Personally to start with and to make sure that your papers get to the people, I would do it myself, and if you had some trusted family and friends, perhaps get them involved and pay them according to the amount of papers that they deliver.

At least that way you will know that your information is being delivered.

There's also a problem here that many houses don't have mailboxes, thus they wedge papers in the fence/gate. Most are blowing down the street by the next morning.

Many companies hire cute girls to hand out brochures on the street in busy areas. That seems to work. :D Pete

Please please don't be tempted to do mail drops yourself Bapak! With respect to Chelsea it just isn't worth the risk.
There certainly are people who do the drops judging by the amount of leaflets from Makro et al. Maybe those firms employ their own staff to do it? Or an obliging motorcike taxi guy might appreciate a little extra earner.
There are other ways to advertise of course. Websites and local publications for 2.
