December - January

Post by Beeblebrox »

Looking to visit HH sometime between 23/12/09 & 11/1/10. I was planning on just turning up & finding a room when I arrived, on the basis that this is what I did in Samui for the same period last year & it worked really well.
Was talking to a Thai friend last night & she said to book quickly as places are getting fully booked already; is she right?
Cheers

Christmas and New Year in particular get heavily booked.

There are more rooms around than there were a couple of years ago but if you want somewhere reasonable book in advance otherwise you just going to have to take what's left and probaly have to pay over the odds for it

I'd book personally, especially around Christmas and New Year.

Better safe than sorry.

Depends how picky you are I guess. I`ve never had any problems finding a guesthouse in town. But if you want a nice hotel it might be safest to book in advance

Yes, booking is advisable for peak season. Most of Hua Hin's hotels can be booked online here with very competitive pricing:

Thanks for the replies guys :thumb:
I was hoping to enjoy the flexibility of just cruising around, but it sounds like that may not be very wise this year.
I'm more a guesthouse sort of person (ok, Cheap Charlie if you want to call me that) but will have to fix some dates & start the booking process :|

Perhaps you should book a place for a day or two, give you time to get your bearings and check out other places. That's what I usually do. Good luck to ya!

That's sort of what I did when I went to Samui. Started at Bophut, found somewhere in Chaweng stayed there for a bit & then finished off in Lamai. Even though it was peak season it worked very well for me last year.

Maybe once you're in Hua Hin you won't find so much time to look around for another house... :?
