Immigration office

Post by Frost »

Hey guys,

its the first time i will go to immigration office to extend my visa.

Questions i have:

1 where is it?
2 is the staff polite as they are in BKK?
3 do they ask "too many questions"?
4 opening times on saturday (tomorrow)?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Imm will be closed tomorrow and Sunday. Should be open Monday, but I don't know their Xmas/NY schedule.
As you go north towards Cha-Am, look out for the Index store on your right hand side about 2kms or so after the Palace. There's a U-turn there just after Index. Take that and the Imm soi is almost directly in front of you. It's signposted. I've forgotten the exact soi number.
Imm are polite enough as long as you're prepared. You don't say what extension you're after. If one to a tourist visa, then it'll be easy. If an annual one on the basis of marriage to a Thai or retirement, then have your paperwork in order and you should be fine.
If you need any more info, let us know what type of extension you're applying for.

Are u sure its closed tomorrow? Even in the morning?
My visa ends tomorrow...

Until what time its opened today?

Well, normally i had an non immigrant o.
But the last 2 visa was double entry tourist visa (made in cambodia), because i didnt wanted to leave to my country (and make a new non o) and leave my new born daughter alone with her mom here.

So my passport is full of stamps (at least from the past 3 years), and they may see it and ask me why i did make 2 tourist visa the last 2 times...

You can try, but I'm certain its closed tomorrow (I can't remember the opening hours on the notice outside the building). Bangkok Imm at Soi Suan Plu was the only office I've ever come across that worked Saturday mornings. Provincial offices are Mon-Fri. Today is Xmas day, so a public holiday. Your first chance will be on Monday.
If you're only looking for the 30 day extension to a tourist visa, then I'm sure you'll be OK on Monday as long as you're ever so polite and apologetic - "it's been a long holiday etc".
Be prepared to pay 500 THB a day overstay but then get your 30 day extension starting from when your permitted to stay stamp expires - ie tomorrow by the sound of things.

I searched on google for openeing times, saw today opening time until 3:30 pm.
So after my last post, quick shower, get into the car and got there 3:22 pm.

Got my extension with no questions and a very friendly lady from staff told me that today its last day until 4th January.

So i am lucky i got there in time today, would be a long trip to the new immigration office in Bangkok (Laksi district)...

Good for you.
Must admit I would have wagered money out on them being closed for Xmas day
