Visa Run...

Post by Frost »

Hey guys, i have a question about my next visa run.
Normally i used to go 3-4 days to pattaya and combine my visa run with a pleasant holiday at sin city.

Or i used to go to BKK with the same intention and use a visa run agent.

Well this time i would like to make the visa run from huahin (guess it will be to ranong?) and use a qualified visa service. Any recommendations?

Questions about a visa run from HH:

1 how much it will cost me?
2 how much time i have to plan for it?
3 which day would be best do do it?

Thanks in advance

I always did the Ranong run myself.
Any day will do as the border is always open.
I'd advise going a day before your stamp expires just in case the buses are full. If that's the case, you can get a train to Chumphon, stay overnight and go on to Ranong the next day by minibus without overstay.
It's a while since I did the run, but 1,500 THB should about cover you for buses, motorcycles, return fare on a boat to Burma and the 10 USD fee in Burma.
I think there are visa companies in HH, but I havn't used them and am not sure of cost. I don't think they run every day.
Probably the best bet is to take a blue Phuket bound bus from HH. They used to depart at 8am (you'll need to check that now). They drop off in Ranong.
It'll be a long day, arriving back in HH around midnight-1am.

Frost asked :"Anyway, how far is Ranong from HH?"

A good 4 1/2 hour drive - go south to main Chomporn intersection, then turn right.

The last hour or so is a very windy hilly road - pretty scary in rough weather but should be ok and very scenic this time of year.
