This is the link for the proposed new fees (2010/2011) for all UK visas issued in UK by Immigration Department.

I think the point comes across that they are trying to discourage it and the impact dependents have on your social system; education, heath etc. They're non-tax generating people in most cases so they may see it as a 'take-take' and no 'give-give'. Pete

Yes I agree BB and take a look at the Mobile Biometric Enrolment & Case-working (Premium+) Whatever that is?

It cost zilch in 2009/2010, the estimated unit cost is £1982 and they are going to charge £15,000 for it in 2010/2011.

And just what is "The migration impact fund" when it's home???

Just another backdoor tax, to fill the coffers again after they gave it all to the :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: banks.

I take your point Pete but the numbers coming in from Thailand are small compared to migration from most EU states.
Anyway, children grow up into adults and hopefully contribute to the UK economy sooner or later.

As for elderly Thai dependants, I would think that number to be minuscule, as they are not entitled to any UK pension etc. If any do come here then they would have to be supported by the UK based family.

I have to disagree Pete. The UK is being overrun with scroungers. However most Thais tend to get a 'legal' job when they enter the UK. In many cases it's a job most UK citizens are not interested in, and yes, they do pay tax.

Guys who fall in love in Thailand, and want to bring their partner to live with them are a soft target - used to pay for scroungers the incompetent Government have allowed to cross our borders.

Am I glad that I'm an old git - Mrs BB's visa was a one-off £45, and her Naturalisation was £240. The daughter also cost me £45. A bargain compared with today's outrageous costs.

Just found this explanation by the Labour Minister responsible.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jan/2 ... s-increase

Phil Woolas, as shifty a looking sack of s*** as I have ever had the pleasure of seeing on TV.

He is the one shafted on live TV by Joanna Lumley, who was fighting for the Gurkhas right to stay in UK, after fighting for us in several wars.

The fool is still waffling on about the "introduction of identity cards for foreign nationals" as if that is going to do any good, other than be a revenue earner.:guns:

I don't know what she shoved up him, but judging by the hunched shoulders and general appearance, I think it's still there. Good old Lummers.:D

If you are super rich, your fast tracked in. B***** typical.

Edit: Typo.
