Hello.
How much tax do you have to pay on your pension in Thailand that you get from another country?
Is it the same as if you were working?
Thanks .

Re: Tax for retired people
If the money is not earned here or remitted here for a service, you pay nothing. If you want to be extra safe, get your source to deposit it into an account in your home country, then you transfer it to yourself here as needed and as you see fit. Really not necessary under current Thai laws but may give some comfort for the future if they change things.
Now, I did you a favour, you do one for us. Go back to the 'Introductions' tread, introduce yourself and tell us were you're from. Thanks. Pete

Agreed Pete (on both points!) but if the OP is earning in Thailand as well I think his pension income from abroad should - legally anyway - be added to the Thailand income for the purpose of Thai taxation.
That's what I was told by my lawyer in HH way back anyway. Whether any expats in that situation actually declare other income of course is another matter....

I, as a Swede, pay a flat tax rate of 25% on my pensions that comes from Sweden. That is the lowest as it gets and comes with a precondition that one must first officially emigrate from Sweden.
Re: Tax for retired people
It depends on the double taxation agreement between your country and Thailand. If you pay no tax on your pension in your country, you should "theoretically" pay tax in Thailand. But only, if you transfer the money to Thailand in the same year as you earned it.
