Flying School?

Post by Blyish »

I know there's a flight school somewhere around Hua Hin, where you can get a pilot's license. I know I saw the link here somewhere, but Search doesn't give me anything. Anybody knows how to get in touch with the school or have a link? Google is useless.

The Thai flying club website has much information and many links about general aviation in the country:

Thanks, I was just reading information about their courses. I was hoping to take lessons nearby, as I know there's a school just outside Hua Hin.

I started going for my license while in the UK but because the weather in Aberdeen is so crappy, couple with the fact that I was working offshore at the time, it just proved to be too inconvenient. Also, it costs a fraction of the price if you do it in the States. If you pick up one of those pilot magazines you'll see loads of offers (package deals), and as far as I know, the license in valid internationally. The written test really is a piece of cake, so it's just a matter of getting in the hours. When I was doing it, you need 40 hours.

If you find anything around Hua-Hin, be sure to post it on here.

I guess your eyesight was a drawback as well, young fellow? :rasta:

Have a look at the link, and why do you think that training helicopter keeps passing over your house, along with various other light aircraft?

Here's a phone number that I found on the Thai flying club site:

Hua Hin is the home of the Civil Aviation Training Center. It is a fun town to fly to and the airport is very modern.

For a private licence (PPL), CATC charge US$11,080. I believe the price is under revision. Have not checked lately but some years ago, foreigners could not hold a Thai licence. However, you could use a foreign licence with an endorsement here after doing a simple test on local rules.

Just talked to the people at the Thai Flying Club and they said yes, foreigners can enroll in school and get a license here.
