i have used BKK hospital about times, mainly for teeth extraction and the like. excellent service, treatment and prices.

I have had the same issue as wpcoe above. Twice i have had a call, which i missed picking up, and the number shown on the phone is the general number in bangkok, and when i called it on both occasions, they didnt know who had called me. Is it possible that when someone calls from HH, the number transmitted is the number from HH, or that they send an email (standard tried to call - can you call xxxxx on yyyyyy message).

on both occasions, there was no follow up or repeat attempt to call from BKK hospital even though i hadnt answered. So i have no idea if it was important or not - i guess not, i am still alive.

I actually received an sms on every occasion the evening before, reminding me of my appointment the next day - I thought that was impressive!!

I also get regular SMS appointment reminders the day before. Twice they had the appointment time incorrect, but still, the reminders were appreciated since, like with my endocrinologist, the appointments are made in three month intervals and I could easily forget.

I get the calls too the day before my appointment. A nice touch because sometimes I forget or have the wrong date/time in my head.

For a blood check, examination and a Doc interview? You got to be joking

Can someone clarify please?

Ok

Got it now. Totally dependent on age

Still a hell of a lot of difference to me for a blood test, some examinations and a Doctor interview

Check the website to get the real figures and what you get for your money.

I'll stick with the Polyclinic and Bumrungrad (1000 more for the same tests and a few more)

Richard, as I don't want to put down the local hospitals or clinics, if you are going to Bangkok you can get a thorough check up from a good private hospital for 5500 baht (including a wide range of blood and urine tests, chest x-ray, abdominal ultrasound, EKG, etc., ... I did last week.

Having said that, there is a cost of traveling to Bangkok in fuel if you drive as I do and in at least a one night hotel stay if you are doing a fasting check up which needs to be done in the morning, so doing it locally may be a better option even if the cost of the checkup itself may be a bit more.

I, for one, am very happy to have a world class hospital local in Hua Hin for emergencies and serious health issues even though I can still plan my annual checkups at a hospital in Bangkok at a lower price.

Where you went to in BKK, hhfarang, was the price based on age?

This is for one of these full 'Wellness' health checks Richard, where they check a whole mass of different things. For example when I last had one done at a different hospital in Bangkok an ultrasound on your vital organs identified a possible lump on liver, fortunately addittional scan (same day) showed it to be just a scarring mark), but my point is they carry out all manner of checks that can possible save your life. The Polyclinic have one around 7-9k I think but doubt it's as extensive, and if like me you need to see a specialist and have a scan the poly would need to send you off somewhere else!?

You get a couple of different level of wellness packages depending on how extensive a check you want, there's a list of what's included on Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin's website. Think there's one for under 45's and a different package of tests for under 45's, so me and you pay same Rich seeing as I was 45 two weeks ago... lucky for you it's not by every age group otherwise yours would have been 12m not 12k

Need to go again as this was 5 years ago which is far too long ago imo, would recommend these check-ups to anyone. Plus I paid 15k 5 years ago, so seems a good deal if like for like tests.

Sounds good...any projected cost of the exam yet? Do you know if I could recoup the cost from BUPA??

A great deal of lip-servive is paid to preventative medine but insurers are not good at putting their money where their mouth is--Check with them.
