Anyone in their mid-20's - early 30's in Hua Hin?

Post by lilmolfie »

OK OK so I've not long been living here in Hua Hin (just over 2 weeks) but already I am starting to become rather bored. The numerous 'girly bars' offer nothing to a female in her mid-20's and quite possibly any female of any age! There are a few places w/friendly faces I enjoy going to but with mother in tow the conversation becomes non-exsistant for me for I am English and mother is Thai.... I'm sure you can agree with me when I say that Thai women love to talk

So alas, here is little 'ole lonely me looking for people I can socialize with and possibly share common interests with. Preferably Westerners.... Now that's not me being racist, I have a few Thai friends but due to the hours they work they are rarely availabe in the evenings. So, to give you a brief list of likes/dislikes; I don't partically enjoy nightclubs/discoteques, I much prefer live music (used to go to gigs as much as poss back in England) :blues: , I can't stand arrogant/cocky/big-headed types or those with their heads stuffed firmly up their jacksy's :tsk: , like to have a few beers but I've found the heat to be so overwhelming that I wouldn't even entertain the thought of having a hungover (even back in the UK my hangovers were lasting 2days!) , I like going to the gym (for light exercise only), I love to sing, love piercings, tats and anything weird and wonderful. Quite open minded and just a little bit crazy (but in a good way). Oh and I have a BF back in the UK who will hopefully be heading out here next year, fingers crossed.

Wow, reading this back is so tragic but if you don't ask you don't get I suppose :thumb: It has also become quite apparent that I have 'thing' for the little smilies... :alien:  :duck: :rasta: :neener:

Anyone in a similar situation? I know it's a long shot.....

Firstly..welcome to the forum lilmolfie.
It's a subject that has been raised on here more than once..'what is there for ladies to do in HH..??
Have you got your own transport..Fino,Click,Nouvo..??
OK so I'm a bit older & steadfast somewhat, but I cycle often, run/walk each Sat. evening with the Hash-House-Harriers around various locations here. Ever thought of fishing..?? (joking apart my Mrs loves to beat the men for the biggest catch..fish that is)..an aft down at Terry's fishing lodge is an option..??
Kite-Boarding..?? OK you need to learn, but thats half the fun..go check those lads out up the beach
(if immigration has'nt rounded them ALL up).
If you're into singing then come out later at night...join the bar-girls down the kareoke bars..it may be
let down..or it may be a buzz..??
Got a good camera?? plenty of good pics to be had around town or a train
/motorcycle ride away..?? Just a coupla ideas for you.

There may be many in that age group as I understand the below movie is based upon a true incident that happened in Hua Hin. :D Pete

Welcome to the forum and HH. I can understand your feelings. Your post is very open and honest, it's refreshing to read.

I am thinking of moving to Thailand and hope to be back there after the holidays. I'll let you know when I am in HH.

Hope you find things to do and get along well.

Hi lilmolfie,

This place has very un-live music, but SamSam Bar at the entrance to the karaoke area is the main place right in town, that your age group meet up in any great numbers.

It's an open, pool/lounge type bar, albeit with loud dance'ish music, where at weekends probably half the crowd are older type foreign students and others who all seem a well friendly, mixing lot. You've probably already been there in which case you'll know this description flatters it somewhat :?

Then there's the music bars in Soi 51 where you get some young farangs mixing with the majority Thais, again better at weekends due to students and Bangkok crowd. But I haven't been there or even past them for ages so not sure what's it's like these days.

I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for, but best places I know to find similar age group.

Cheers buddy - sounds like a plan

Hey Super Joe - thanks for your post. I will check them out. I guess I'm feeling a little lonely at the moment and perhaps even a little homesick too. Must venture out more and meet more people :D

I don't quite meet your age bracket, as I am 40, but I feel and look a lot younger, that's for sure. This is my first posting on this forum...I came to Hua Hin less than a week but I've been in Thailand for over a year, studying Thai a bit and just sorta hanging out. I am looking to meet folks for social activities that might include beer, Scrabble, beach, shooting the shit, etc. I am from the United States and I work as a journalist generally, but not in Thailand at the moment. I also do a bit of yoga and currently ride around town on a bicycle, and have yet to see any of the place really at all. Do be in touch if you would like to meet.

ps: I'm from the States - does that count against me? ;-)
