Bit of a 'yes and no' situation now.

An Indian guy has very wisely, (as they usually seem to be when it comes to business), re-opened the old Halex shop and people would be forgiven for thinking it's still the old Halex's. And no BaaBaa, it's not called Bollex

Been in a few times for Christmas/New Year gift stuff, so not tried the regular beers and the like, so can't comment on prices. Would imagine he's competitive, the wine and stuff I got for people seemed reasonable enough, he knocked a bit off without being asked, ie: 540 Baht bottle, he said 500 Baht, so you could definately haggle with him if that's your thing. I tickled him under his little bearded-chin and gently patted him on the backside as I followed him round the shop, which is more my thing. It seemed to work out ok, as I got 40 Baht off and when I left we both had big smiles on our faces.

He said: 'they deliver locally' ..... 'F.O.C.' I said to him ..... and he replied that he would be only 'too happy to'. But as he never moved from the spot I realised what he meant was, that he would deliver locally, free of charge.

Each time the place was empty apart from me, which was a shame as it was over Xmas/New Year and he's cleary made an effort with the place, very smart and laid out differently with everything more accessible and less cluttered. Before you were tripping over all them cases of beer and boxes of whatever stacked just inside the door. I always assumed that was for ease of access with deliveries, but as we all found out on D-Day that was in preparation for the 30-second warning.

It'd be worth the 'marketing department' approaching him, he's a very chat, personable guy and his business clearly needs a kick-start, I can't see how he'd fail to gain extra business out of it.

The Cathay Store on Sa Song road (across from and down a few paces from All In Hua Hin, same building as Cool Relax) is a wholesale liquor store much like Halex was. They have even better prices on many items than he did but do not quite have the broad selection that was found at Halex. They do deliver to retail establishments as a lot of restaurants and bars use them for there liquid supplies but I'm not sure if they deliver to private homes or if they do, if a minimum order is required.

Address and phone info can be found here:

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Here it is, sorry for delay...
Now called 'The Wine Garden', Tel: 032-512513, same shop as Halex's before, ie: the small parade next to Grand Market.
