Thanx for the welcome guys. I'm not interested in doing sports this holiday (I'm not a golfer anyway), unless it's perhaps watersports. But I'll probably have more time later in the holiday in other locations to do this, unless there's something unmissable.
I'm meeting up with 3 friends that include a couple, and we're staying at different hotels but all are within walking distance the railway station. So some nightlife recomendations about where's good to eat and go out after in this area would be useful. Probably something suitable for couples and maybe also nightclubs or anything for me and my other friend later in the night.
Spending some time on the beach would be nice, but also if there's any must see tourist attractions in or near Hua Hin during the day that'd be good so I can get my cultural fix too.
btw I'm spending my first 5 nights in Pattaya and intend to get the newly opened ferry across to Hua Hin... I'm quite looking forward to that as it seems like a relaxing way to travel. :]

If you are near the railway station, the night market (starts two blocks north of the station and runs down the full length of Amnuyasin Road) with all it's booths and restaurants is a short walk. There are several good restaurants on Sa Song road (walk down the road that runs into the railway station and turn left at the first street) including two of my favorites Delize (Italian) and Cool Relax (great breakfasts as well as both European and Thai food). A bit further along Sa Song before the night market street is Ray's Place (corner of Sa Song and Soi Kamoatyitee - first traffic light), a BBQ restaurant that has live Blues and Jazz music on certain night(s) (Mondays?).
If you walk a short distance south down the road the railway station is on you will get into a section of that road that has shops, bars, and restaurants. One of the first restaurants on your right (beside the railroad tracks) is our favorite Issan Thai restaurant in town, Seb Neur. It is a typical open air Thai style restaurant with great Thai food and low prices. Further down that road on the other side there are several Thai and European food restaurants. The stand out among them is Kim's Kitchen.
That same road that runs down from the railway station (Damnoern Kasem Road) is the road that runs directly to the main Hua Hin Beach (about 5 blocks between station and and beach), but before you get to the beach, the main tourist area is on your left as you head toward the beach on and between Poonsuk and Naresdamri roads where you will find lots of good (and some not so good) restaurants and bars. El Murphy's is a good restaurant and bar in that area (on Soi Selecam) that has live music and is suitable for couples.
