immigration 7 day extension

Post by nickswift »

I am on a NON-O visa not based on marriage, just based on visiting friends, I am 37.

I booked my first 3 month visa run and unfortunately I booked it a day too late and I will overstay by 1 day if I don't do anything about it.

I don't really want an overstay stamp in my passport as I may want to start a business here one day if NON-O visa becomes harder to get (which they are) so dont want any black marks in my passport if I change my NON-O to NON-B.

Can I get a 7 day extension from Hua Hin or do I have to go to BKK? I am heading to BKK anyway but would be easier to do it here.

cheers

I can't imagine you ever having a problem with 1 day overstay.

One of our staff screwed up and ended up with 30 days overstay!!
All they did was laugh, take 15k and then let him start the whole visa application procedure again.
No wagging finger, telling-off or anything of the sort.

If you're worried, and you still have the time, why not just do something about it, and re-book the visa run?

I'd agree that to change the visa run date would be the preferable option. If you can't, then go to Imm here in HH (absolutely no need to go the BKK) and ask for a 7 day extension. Cost will be 1,900THB and you'll need photocopies of the relevant pages from your passport and a passport sized photo.
There's no guarantee that they'll give you the extra 7 days, but if you've got a receipt from the visa run company showing the departure date that will help.
You don't mention dates on your post, but go early to Imm so that if they say no to the extension you've got time to try and change the visa run date.

Well I have booked a flight to the Philippines actually, so its gonna be too expensive to make amendments as it with one of these budget airlines and you know what they are like with changes etc.

I go on the 14th of May and my 3 months is up on 13th - I just dont want to screw up my chances of starting a business here with something like a overstay stamp in my passport.

A one day overstay stamp shouldn't mess anything up.
As you're leaving from the airport and only one day over, you shouldn't get fined but you will get the overstay stamp.

I've been fined at the airport (3 passports ago  ) as well as the overstay stamp.

I would go and speak to immigration, I'm sure it's not a big issue.
