Two new places to eat

Post by hhfarang »

We have Thai company and my wife took us all to a sort of outdoor food court that she says has only been there a few weeks. It's on the corner of Soi 88 just across the railroad tracks behind the 7/11 on the left corner (there's one on each corner!). Anyway, it's accessible from either the road that runs by the RR just past the 7/11 or the road that runs in front of the 7/11. You probably need to go with a Thai but we had whole barbecued fish and two different kinds of seafood salad and it was very good. Total cost was about 250 baht for 3 people. I walked around to the 7/11 to get a beer as they don't sell alcohol but nobody minds if you bring your drink from the 7/11.

The other place is on Soi 94. I noticed them building this open air restaurant a couple of weeks ago and I think tonight may have been the opening. I have no idea what they have and just looked in as the missus drove by so didn't see the name either but it is modern open air structure and was nicely laid out with tables having white table cloths and cloth napkins so I don't think it's the typical type Thai food place (looked a little fancier). Maybe SJ or someone else who lives in the area can check it out and see what it is. It's about 200 meters up the Soi from Sakura Japanese on the same side.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

It is called 'Have a seat' and we had lunch there yesterday - very nice but for most of the time we were the only people in there. It is something to do with Dukes but the waiter who was very chatty disappeared so we could not find out exactly what the connection was - all staff were wearing Dukes t-shirts and the menu is from Dukes but the 7% vat has been taken off the menu after we pointed out no one else on 94 charged vat. The food we had was excellent but it is not the cheapest place on 94 having said that we will certainly be going back there. The menu is mainly Thai with little 'International' food.

Thanks Moja, that sort of makes sense as I read on here or somewhere recently that The Dukes was no longer open and the place was under new construction or remodel, so maybe they just moved their employees and kitchen staff to this new place on 94.

Wall to wall eateries all the way up and more under construction all the time! I gain weight just driving down the soi.

Who are you calling "weight impaired", fatso? BB is simply Big-Boned, and I have found the perfect angle in the bathroom mirror to convince myself that the scales are badly calibrated.

I'll give you "weight impaired"...
