..."The Sushi Guy"..

Post by Johnnywastaken »

I remember when I lived in Jomptien last year...was a thai fellow who rode the row of soi beer bars with a sushi cart.

I always thought it was a terrific idea... I would flag him down anywhere and his suchi was fresh and generous pieces for 10 bhat each.... Hell for 100 bhat it was dinner and great nibblings while sitting at the bar....

I don't suppose this sort of venture exists in HH..?

Since a lot of sushi is uncooked, I think I would be hesitant to buy it from a cart vendor. I won't even try the raw ones from the sushi stands in the two malls (Tesco and HH shopping mall). A Sushi chef needs to be properly trained and know what he/she is doing from choosing the fish, storing it, all the way to preparing it.

I trust the place on 94 and Fuji in market village. Maybe this new place on Naresdamri is ok too with an owner that is half Japanese, but I'll have to check out the creds of the person preparing the (uncooked) sushi. The other cooked food should be no problem.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

When I was in Hua Hin last year, there was a place at the Grand Market selling sushi at very reasonable prices - seemed very popular, but obviously not sure if it's still there.

Personally, not my kind of food.

Actually I'm a stickler for fresh sushi too... and I came upon the place where it was made... all thai operated and clean from what I examined. The sushi was freshly made daily and abundant in quantity....

Of course there are many sushi places in various malls and such ...but what made this venture unique was it was mobile....

This guy on a sidecar set up roamed the sois with this sushi on ice... even had a clear sneeze guard that rolled up to protect them from the elements....

He had many different types to choose from including, tuna roe, smoked salmon and honker prawns all done up... I figured with everything else invading from Pats... this is one I would gladly welcome...
