Post by glassdude007 »

New to forum but not new too Thailand,
Thinking of making the move from long term renter in Phuket (Rawai) to long term renter in Hua Hin...
Doing a bit of research and gonna take a couple holidays to Hua Hin before we move...
look around a bit...
I Have not been to Hua Hin since early 90's so im sure lots of changes there same as all of Thailand...
my main question are??
Whats best news and info source for hua Hin besides this forum???,concerning breaking news crime reports and local ecents....
Best local newspaper is ???
What the best area to search for a long term 3 bedroom house to rent 15K to 25K a month NO pool villa required or resort life required.
Clean safe quiet area desired...
Any info on the local schools for thai kids K thru High school will be appreciated..
Reccomended bars, happy hours, best cheeseburgers, friendly ladies, resturaunts and places to hang out malls supermarkets etc,
any ideas?
Crime Noise and dangerous roads have got me sour on Phuket these days, does Hua Hin have the same issues I wonder....

thanks in advance foir your ideas and replies...
cheers from

Hi and Welcome,

This is the best source of news and information about Hua Hin as we have no real newspaper here, only a couple of advertising/society/events publications... nothing with real news so you will not find any crime statistics or any of that type of news.

As for everything else, it's all available here on a smaller scale than Phuket. To find an area to live you'll have to come and have a drive around town as you will get as many different opinions on that as you do answers, but a decent place in a decent neighborhood should be easy to find in your price range, especially the upper end.

For good food and bars look in those subsections of this forum. There are always discussions going on about food/restaurants in "Feeding Time" and bars in "After Dark".
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Hi glassdude007,

Plenty of info on this site and lots of change since the 90s, but good change in most ways. What are your interests?

Cheers,

Bouncing my baby on my knee..LOL
Off course relaxing at Happy hour practicing my Thai with the ladies at the pub is fun too..

In the past i've rented in Pattaya, Jomtien, Bangkok and past 3 years in Phuket.....
If not Hua Hin then maybe Korat or up north someplace??
but kinda close to the Thai side of the family for my taste up there :banghead:
So far from what i can see just via internet it seems Hua Hin is either pool villa or studio apartment not many middle income family homes too rent online anyways??
but I always do better when on the motor bike just nosing around and word of mouth in local bar or resturaunt is best way to find a good house to rent..
so pai tio too Hue Hin is in order ...NICE
